About this listen

Kitty Robertson has grown up wealthy and influential, and she's never more at home than when in an English parlor displaying her social graces. When she looks for a husband, of course she seeks a man just as at home in his position - hopefully a lofty one - as she is.

Nicholas Glenville, Marquess of Greystone, is just such a man. He is so attentive and gentlemanly that she can't help but accept his proposal of marriage, and is now looking forward to this Season being her last one as a single woman.

But at the very first ball of the year, she meets an enigmatic, gorgeous duke who asks her for a dance. That duke is Trevor Nicholson, a man who knows the marquess well enough to know that he would not make her any kind of husband at all. Instead he nominates himself for the position, but as he soon finds, convincing the beautiful Miss Robertson to marry him instead will be the trickiest - and most worthwhile - task of his life.

Perhaps this book would be better read than listened to. I was simply bored still through over 12 chapters. Last quarter of the book was really good. Anne Flosnik was a great narrator but even she could not save this overly long book.

Too Long-Cut out 12 chapters

I enjoyed the book as a whole--it keeps your interest and had some surprises.
I found the Duke's pursuit of Kitty a little over the top, but Anne Flosnik's performance made it enjoyable to listen to. A Narrator can make or break a story, and in my opinion Anne certainly made this one.

Great Performance by Anne Flosnik

What did you like best about An Invitation to Seduction? What did you like least?

There is nothing that stood out as the best. Everything was just OK. This story could have been at least 5 chapters shorter.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

It was predictable. I felt the characters developed very little from the beginning of the story.

Would you be willing to try another one of Anne Flosnik’s performances?

She was very monotone in her narration. She should give up trying a Texas accent.

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

No

Just OK

OMG!!!! This book had me at the edge of my seat just anticipating the next moves. Some parts cought me off guard as I was not expecting those moves others I was not so much surprised. The court scene was my utmost best! I really like when the narrator took on Richard's role and went with it to the fullest!! Well done! I would recommend this book with the fullest 5 stars. I wish it was a series so we could know what happened with Lady Anne. The author did a fabulous job and the narrator Anne kudos to you!!

Fabulous!

This is a wonderful classic romance. So often romances today feature the female falling in love and her love being unrequited by the male. This is completely different. It is the duke that falls in love at first glance and tries relentlessly to win her affection. The book is filled with twists and turns (some predictable, some not). Certainly enough drama to keep me interested and entertained. Wonderful story and narration. This is one of those stories that I regretted finishing because it is just so wonderful.

Wonderful romance! Best in a long while!

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I don't know if there is anything I could change about the story.

What was most disappointing about Lorraine Heath’s story?

Her characters. I normally love her characters, but I struggle with the characters.

What does Anne Flosnik bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Anne did a great job at reading the story. I was able stick with the story longer than if I had read it on my own.

Did An Invitation to Seduction inspire you to do anything?

Nope. I just wanted it to end. A story should draw you in. It took me two weeks to listen to the story.

Any additional comments?

Some might love this story, but it just didn't work for me. Sometimes that happens. I still love Lorraine Heath and her writing, but not this one. :(

A Struggle for Me

Any additional comments?

I've read several of Ms. Heath's books and loved them but this one is just too boring for me. I can tell it's just going to be a constant battle between the hero and the heroine over him wanting her and her refusing him at every turn.

As to the narrator: I can take Ann Flosnik or leave her. She's definitely not the best I've listened to but she's not the worst either.

Not finishing..

What would have made An Invitation to Seduction better?

I found this story promising in the beginning, I liked the plot descriptions ... however, I soon became quite irritated with the heroine of the story. She is both written and portrayed by the narrator as a very naive, whiny and simple character. She does not evolve at all as the story progressed. I had to really make an effort to finish the story as I didn't care one bit about what would happen to the main characters.

Would you ever listen to anything by Lorraine Heath again?

Probably not

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The hero was ok but as he is clearly head over heels with a very irritating heroine, my favourable opinion of him was quickly lost as the plot progressed.

not my favourite
