Publisher's summary

Dr. Angeline Hemming is a beautiful, sassy, no-nonsense type of girl who has risen from a difficult past to become one of Chicago's most successful and respected criminal profilers. In exchange for free commercials to promote her favorite charitable causes, Angel answers calls and gives relationship advice on a Friday night radio program.

Alexander Avery is a gorgeous and successful corporate genius who doesn't believe in love. When his girlfriend-of-convenience calls into Angel's program, he is furious with the show's host who doles out blind advice, without knowing all the facts. He decides to give her a piece of his mind, and his side of the story!

When Angel informs Alex he's the one in need of a much-deserved lesson, all hell breaks loose as these two type-A personalities battle it out for control over minds and hearts, and yes, in bed. Not only are they fighting each other at every turn, but they are also struggling to uphold the convictions they each live by.

It's unclear who is stronger, but both must discover that to get what they desperately want, they may have to give a little...or a lot.

Better than I expected!

Overall, I HATE books in 3rd person but I was happy this book at least jumped back and forth between 1st and 3rd.

Narration: Anything Zachary Webber narrators is golden in my book. Well- at least he makes his parts golden and improves the book overall IMO. But Jessie Briar as the overall, 3rd person narrator was a drag. Her 3rd person voice was way too theatrical for the content of the book. However, during her 1st parts, she did a fantastic job.

Story: I really love the theme and direction of this book. Lots of twists and a descent amount of push and pull.

Characters: Alex...LOVE HIM (Although I could be bias lololol). Seriously, on the surface he seems like a jerk but he's just a guy who knows what he wants- I just don't see what he sees in the heroine outside of her intelligence on paper and beauty. Angel- ugh! She offers good advice as a talk show therapist but outside of that she seems like someone who needs therapy herself. Also- her character is insecure and lacks the intellect you'd expect from a doctor. No character or person is perfect but she seems more like a college freshmen more than a grown woman. She can't see a good thing when it's right in her face.

Lastly, I'm glad this book finally made it in the RP! I wanted this book so bad but couldn't get past the theatrical 3rd party parts to buy and keep this series so I'm glad I could listen for free and at the end of the series I may or may not purchase it so I can add it to my ZW collection lol!

great story

great story and Zachary Webber always makes any story so much more. Unfortunately it would have been better if he had narrated the entire story. Jessie Briar was not right for this story. She sounded so disconnected from the story - like she was just reading some random words on a page. ugh

FANTASTIC!!!

Angel After Dark is another amazing book from Kahlen Aymes. This book has two strong characters in Dr. Angelina Hemming and Alexander Avery. The narrators in this book are out of this world. It is almost like watching a moving while listening to them narrate the book. You have a male and female narrator so you don't have to listen to a man do the woman's voice and visa versa. Zachary's voice is HOT and he is what I imagined Alex to sound like when I read the book. Jessie has a sweet and sultry voice just like Angel should have.

Alexander Avery is what every woman wants- hot, rich, intelligent alpha male. However, he does not believe in love. He has mutual beneficial relationships for sex and fulfilling social obligations. He didn't think he would want anything more until he met Angel.

Dr. Angeline Hemming is a criminal profiler and she hosts a weekly radio show called Angel After a Dark. Angel was hurt in the past and she keeps men at arms length always wanting to have the control. Angel is put off by Alex's view of relationships and cocky attitude, but can't help but be drawn to him. He is beautiful and her body reacts. The more she's around him, the more she feels she judged him wrong. Angel is afraid of falling hard and getting hurt.

Alex and Angel can't get enough of each other and their chemistry is off the chart. When Angels job put her in danger, Alex is more determined than ever to make her his and keep her safe.

I can't wait to find out what happens in their relationship in Confessions After Dark!

It was Good

However I believe this is the first time I have not been able to finish a book narrated by Zachary Webber. He was fantastic as usual but the woman, I just couldn’t listen to her anymore. Can’t even really describe why I didn’t like her, her voice just didn’t fit.

Hmmmm....

The main reason I listened to this book is because I absolutely love Zachary Webber. And I love when the narrators duet. But the female narrator kinda of ruined it.

Did not finish it... nothing wrong just not for me

I almost stuck with it and finished it, after all at the point I stopped I had about 4 hours left but I just felt so bored. I was hoping the sex would be a little more raunchy and that Angel would find a new side of herself so she can stop being so uptight all the time. I liked the characters and the narration was very good but I just wasn't that into it. There was so much build up and then after the first date I just felt kind of let down. I probably should have finished it before judging so I might come back to it but right now I've got some dark romances lined up that are calling my name.

Great start to a series!

Angel After Dark is an intriguing beginning to a 3 book series. I like that Angel is a smart woman with a good head on her shoulders. I also like that even though Alex treats his past relationships more like business deals, he's respectful and monogamous to his relationships. There is an exciting cat and mouse chase between Angel and Alex as they get to know each other. Meanwhile danger is lurking due to Angels recent profiling case. This book definitely leaves you interested in finding out what happens next in the series.

***Audio Review: I absolutely loved Zachary Webber. Great voice and made it very easy to listen to him as Alex. Jessie Briar was very good as well. Both did a great job bringing this story to life.

Rich, Cocky, Alpha Male!!!

Any additional comments?

Alex and Angel's chemistry is off the chart! You can feel the tension, lust, and happiness through the narration perfectly. Alex's voice is just hot, hot, hot being performed by Zachary Webber.

Only issue i had with this book is that the audio dept should have listened to it before release as the volume kept changing. A little irritating at times.

Worth a listen, yes! I am hooked and can't wait to listen to the next book.

Good Story but

Loved the story but the narration needed a stronger female voice than Jessie Briar, she just didn’t sound like the strong criminal psychologist. Zachery Webber was his normal great self.
