About this listen

Jenna McNally is tending to the heartrending task of clearing out her grandfather's cabin when she's knocked off her feet by the impact of a nearby plane crash. She races into the snowy North Carolina woods to help and discovers that this is no plane that's crashed.

Ra'kur's people have been brought to the brink of extinction by war. After years spent searching for a compatible mate to bond with, an enemy attack lands him on a backward, primitive planet and right to the very female he has been seeking. And a Hir warrior's first task in claiming a mate is to capture her....

This series gets better each book!

I must be honest and state that books 1 and 2, of this series, are only, Ok. They are short Alien Romance’s. There is little character/ plot development and the storylines are pretty cookie cutter. In addition, I did not like the Heroines lack of empathy.

The third book was so much better than the first two. The plot was more unique and the H/h had much more depth. This one does have a bit more angst, but not overly so. Book three and four are both emotional roller coasters and a box of Kleenex should be handy.

There are some descriptive sex scenes but they aren’t raunchy and there are only 2 or 3. So, if you like a Bossy alpha who talks dirty, this series will disappoint you. However, if you like sweet with a little heat, this series is your style.

Warrior of Hir Captures Mate!

Thanks to one of my fellow Audible members, I've found another series to concur!

Captured was a surprising well written story with a natural flow. While the plot did not have a lot of action, it was full of drama, angst, and several steamy sex scenes. The character's were likable, and the world building was very descriptive and creative.

Kathryn and Adam did an outstanding job on the dual narration. Kathryn projected the perfect southern accent for Jeanna's character; however, I had to get used to Adam's narration for Ra`kur's voice. He did a great job imitating what a male alien may sound like. Ra`kur's voice was deep, slightly gruff voice, reflected emotions but sometimes came across rushed.

Book was ok

I loved the narration but honestly the booked kinda dragged in the beginning if the narration wasn't so awesome I probably would have skipped some pages just to see how it ended, there were parts of the story that could have been cut out like all the breakfast in the beginning and honestly it should not have taken almost 3 chapters to get a damn translation device on her.

Narrator makes the hero sound like a cartoon anima

I'm going to buy this book for my e-reader because I love the storyline. Unfortunately, the narrator made it impossible to take the character seriously. I don't know what he was trying for, but it definitely wasn't "hot hero". Silly cartoon animal? Possibly.

Interesting Alien Abduction

One of the more interesting alien abduction stories. Ra’kur has been traveling the galaxies searching for a mate, when his ship is damaged and crash lands on Earth. His world of Hir has been decimated by the Scourge, which has killed most of their female population. Yes, he believes he has found his true mate in Jenna.
Ra’kur has to bring Jenna to his world to save her life, and she has to adapt to a whole new world. Politics and desperation for mates creates a dangerous environment.

Extraterrestrial romance - it works

So the plot. Warrior comes to Earth by mistake. Warrior's planet has few female (because ... well, you have to listen). He captures Jenna and then we are off to the races. Its a decent plot, there is a mix of 50% romance and 50% science fiction. In this novel, you have to be okay with that type of mix. The alien speech is a bit hokey and the dialog is off-beat.

Danes manages to get some underlying messages across without being a soapbox preacher. You genuinely like Jenna and Ra'kur. You wind up pulling for the alien. The narrators do good job. If you like off-beat. then you will like the first book in this series.

Good story

I found parts of the story funny ( in a laugh out loud way) especially when she cooks him bacon for the first time :) The narrators voice is very clear and soothing. I would recommend this audible.

A NEW SERIES THAT CAPTURED MY WILLING ATTENTION

Sometimes I'm in the mood for a good Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Paranormal listen and the Summary of this book, together with the reviews, tickled my fancy conjuring up hot Alpha sexy Aliens winning over us Earth women (yummy). And that was pretty true of how this book went - but the getting there was so delightful..... and sweet too.

500 acres, lone cabin, snow, solitary grieving Granddaughter, large boom, snow flurry, a far too inquisitive Heroine seeks source (err duh! no 911 it) is met by 7ft handsome Alien Warrior with a sexy purrr that sets off sexual tingles (ok forget 911) and a menacing growl and a stun gun (skip the tingles.... get back on that phone woman!). Followed by confusion, tender, touching, funny and sweet times between them and leads to very eager inter-species mating. But life-threatening drama happens so Hero is forced to take drastic action to save his mate which only leads to more drama, more confusion and more life-threatening twists. However, it does end in a revelation, good news and a HEA ending. Oh yes, and another desperate Warrior from Hir sets off to find and claim his mate - yeah, good luck with that R'har.

Jenna was a feisty, fun and very likeable Heroine and Ra'kur was oh so sweet, thoughtful, protective and loving to the mate that he'd spent 5 years searching the Galaxies for. The plot contained impressive world-building skills and gave good descriptions so your mental images could come to life and join in in this Planetary journey where wonders, threats, customs, cultures and strange civilizations live in Clans that viciously protect their precious rare females. I did think the trust and sex happened a little too quick but thankfully I journeyed forth.... and was rewarded with an entertaining and enjoyable plot that was mainly character driven and not sex driven, had romantic and touching scenes as well as drama and angst filled scenes too and a few twists towards the end which totally caught me by surprise.

Dual POV's the narrators were good and stuck to their own gender's dialogue which made conversations flow more naturally and smoothly. But I'm sorry to say that I thought Adam McLaughlin's older voice just didn't suit the young vibrant Warrior from Hir and sounded more like his Grandfather's voice. I'm sorry, it's only my opinion and I know you Produced it and it won't put me off the next book..... but please maybe step aside for Robert Petkoff or his ilk for book 3.

Worth a credit? YES, it successfully captured my attention and happily held it until the very end.
