About this listen

Rainbow Valley, Texas, has always been a refuge for animals, and Shannon North, director of the local shelter, intends to keep it that way. But with donations drying up and more pets in need of a loving home than ever before, Shannon's beginning to fear she's not the savior the shelter needs. When a tall, dark, and handsome cowboy from her past comes to the rescue, she knows that accepting his help may come with a high price: her heart.

Bad boy Luke Dawson shook the dust from this little town off his boots years ago. He walked away from everything . . . except the memory of the one night of passion he shared with Shannon. Now, a few wins away from becoming the world bull-riding champion, Luke's headed for fame and fortune. But then a crisis calls him back to Rainbow Valley, and Luke is reunited with the good girl who stole - and broke - his heart.

As their rekindled relationship deepens into desire, old secrets resurface, and Luke must choose between the future he's always dreamed of and the only woman he's ever loved.

Great Story!

I really enjoyed this book. It was my first by this author, who I met recently at a party at a friend's house. I got the two of her books available on audible & this was the first one I listened to.
Although I knew it was a romance, the actual story line was unique and kept me captivated until the very end. I highly recommend it! 👱‍♀️

Wonderful!

A second chance romance set around an animal shelter 🐶 The hero loves animals and develops a special bond with a few at the shelter that are otherwise afraid of humans. He’s also really great at matching people to pets for adoption. I listened from start to finish in one day. Loved it!

Loved this story

Would you listen to Cowboy Take Me Away again? Why?

Yes. The story is captivating and I enjoy Susan Bennett's voice as narrator.

What other book might you compare Cowboy Take Me Away to and why?

I compare this book to one of Rachel Gibson's. Believeable characters and story line that evokes emotion.

Which scene was your favorite?

It was a flashback to the past and that described a key moment in Luke and Shannon's friendship.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Not sure about a tag line. I felt the title of this book didn't fit the story. It works, but to me, I'd have titled it something about cowboys and going for the ride of your life.

Any additional comments?

Really, really enjoyed this book and this writer's style. I actually read her second book first and fell in love with that one too.

Sentimental but extremely well written love story

Rainbow Valley requires a suspension of disbelief that good writing easily commands. Cowboys are the Prince Charmings of American mythology and Luke Dawson does not disappoint. The author does not torture her readers with needless, one sided emotional hand wringing on either the heroine or the hero's part. Clear communication and honest emotions win the day, and that's how it should be. I now also have a new found obsession with miniature horses.

I enjoyed this book so much. I am looking forward to more of her writing.

Slooooow

Storyline slow. No inflection in narrator’s voice. Should be masculine for male character.
So slow getting into story had to stop. Sorry
