About this listen

Pack Law states she must have more than one mate.

Like hell.

Rather than be forced into a mating with more than one man, Dana flees the pack. Flees everything she knows, everyone she loves. She lives on the run and can't seem to find happiness.

All that changes the day her first love, Nathan, finds her and brings her back home. He's not letting her go, not again. As alpha, he now makes the rules and he's decided to hell with the laws, he wants Dana.

Except Dana's changed since she left. Maybe the pack ways aren't so bad after all, and when she decides to accept fate...she finds love times three.

This was an ok shifter RH. The story is ok but nothing really different from what I have heard before. For her age the MFC is a little annoying and immature but all in all it was still good.

Good but not a big fan of MFC

I loved the story and the world this author has created but the narrator struggled a lot with the male voices which was hard to get past at times.

Good Story - Iffy Narrator

Oh man. I have read and enjoyed all of this authors stories, and this one was just as fantastic as the rest. There were many many scenes that had me near tears, others had me laughing out loud, and still others had me wishing I was in my room alone (LOL). The narrators is an excellent job portraying each character, bringing emotions to scenes, and pulling me into the story with her voice. All in all, amazing job.

Highly recommend!

I enjoyed this book but it felt undeveloped and full of missed opportunities to be a better book.

Loved it! I loved kodi and John the most. Dont get me wrong Nathan was cool by the end but he truly is a guy with foot in mouth problems seriously. The narration was good for the female voice and she did John's voice pretty well. I did not care for the vocal narration of Kodi and Nathan voice it came off odd. Nevertheless I kept listening and still loved it. The story line was good and the oh so sexy scenes was Great! Worth the read/listen!

DEFYING PACK LAW is a Reverse Harem book that was written before RH became a subgenre. Back when it was originally published in 2011, ménage à trois/quatre and polyamory books were rather new to the scene just like e-publishers and the indie author boom. With that being said, Eve Langlais can easily be called one of the trail blazers of the genre and this book is a prime example of that.

This book had lots of positives and few negatives. Here's what I thought...

Positives
The world building - While the off balanced ratio of male to female wolves isn't exactly original, Langlais put her own twist on it. The laws she created in her world make it stand out amongst the others. I enjoyed the fact that she made sure her readers understood the worst and the best situations that those laws could generate.

Dana's get away strategies - Dana was on the run for 12 years. It takes a lot of planning to keep one step ahead of those looking for her.

John - He was my favorite character. He's thoughtful and has this solid assurance and supportive vibe going on. Plus his response to Dana's surprising choice and the determined yet giving (if that makes sense to you) way he handled the situation was awesome.

The surprising twist as far as who the main antagonist was.

Negatives
The main antagonist - While yes there was a twist involved in the big reveal it was only halfway a surprise. The unsurprising part was predictable from the moment that the leader was mentioned.

About the narrator...
This is the first performance of Natasha Soudek's that I've listened to. I'm a bit conflicted as to how I feel about her. She was better than average I can say that much. However there were little bits here and there that I feel could have used improvement.

Contains m/f, m/f/m and m/f/m/m sex scenes with no sword crossings 😉

Dana ran away from her pack when she was a teenager because she didn't want to follow the pack law of multiple mates. She leaves behind the boy that she loves when she runs. Of course being on her own causes problems. She is an unmated female. She has to defend herself against every male that wants to claim her.

I like that Dana is a strong woman. She won't submit to the pack just because they say so.

An interesting read
