About this listen

He’s the most feared monster in the realm. And she’s what he needs to win his war…

In a world of warring orcs and men, Lady Norr is condemned to a childless marriage, a cruel lord husband, and a life of genteel poverty—until the day her home is ransacked by a horde. Leading the charge is their hulking, deadly orc captain: the infamous Grimarr.

Grimarr has a wicked plan for Lady Norr, and for ending this war once and for all. She’s going to become his captive, and the perfect snare for Lord Norr.

There’s no possible escape, and soon Lady Norr is dragged off toward Orc Mountain in the powerful arms of her greatest enemy. A ruthless, commanding warlord, with a velvet voice and mouthwatering scent, who awakens every forbidden hunger she never knew she had.

But Grimarr refuses to accept half measures—in war, or in pleasure. And before he’ll conquer Lady Norr’s deepest, darkest desires, she needs to surrender everything.

Her allegiance.

Her wedding-ring.

Her future.

And with her husband’s forces giving chase, Lady Norr can’t afford to play such a dangerous game—or can she? Even if this deadly orc’s plans might be the only way to save them all...

The Lady and the Orc is a dark, steamy, full-length standalone fantasy romance for adults. HEA guaranteed.

Let’s talk about narration.

Shane East is great when it comes to male narration but when he does female voices it is AWFUL! I cannot stand his female narration at all. It’s annoying and cringe worthy! And almost made me quit this book but I really liked the story. I think the orc is truly trying to treat the female lead with compassion but he is from a totally different world then she is from. All in all I liked the book but man Shane please work on this female narration or just don’t do it at all! I think you’re a great voice actor though so if you see this somehow!

Ughhhh!

I can’t stand narrators that whispers throughout the whole book. They kill a really great book. I am going to finish the rest of the series on KU. Just horrible.

Shane’s voice!

If Shane narrates it, I’m going to listen! 🤷🏻‍♀️I mean … there was a story… but it came to life due to his voice! Everyone who read the book and didn’t really liked it, should just listen to the audiobook! Game changer!

I LOVE Shane East and he brings this story to Life

Shane East brought this story to life. I loved it. Such a great story and I love that it wasn't all rainbows and love, the author really delves deep into the hard choices a person may possibly make in dire situations. Now, are they the choices I would have made? Probably not. But I like that the struggles leave to a stronger love for the characters.

So if you want a good emotional read that may or may not bring tears to your eyes, this is it.

great story

This book was not what I expected. I guess I wasn't sure what to expect, but it took me by surprise. I truly enjoyed it from start to finish. I was captivated by the story. It was everything from heartbreaking to laughing out loud to fanning myself from the spicy scenes.
I listened to the audiobook, and I could listen to Shane East growl "woman" at me all day long!!!

A fantastic audiobook for a fantastic series!

I had read "The Lady and the Orc" a while ago, before I quickly devoured the rest of the books in the Orc Sworn series. In fact, I've even re-read all of the books! I hadn't re-read "Lady" yet, though, perhaps because this introduction to their world can be really tough in its most challenging moments! The story does not shy away from complicated situations, miscommunication, and the confusion that would definitely happen when two people who don't quite understand each others' worlds come together.

I was doing myself as disservice, however, by not re-reading, in that it was wonderful to experience our first glimpses of all the characters again. I really love Jule, our main Lady, and while there will definitely be moments in this story where you want to scream at Grimarr, he is brought to life in the most delicious way by Shane East. The cadence and timbre he chose for Grimarr matched him so well. East's manner of speaking as Astin also struck me as perfect for that character. This recording truly made me appreciate this book more than I already did. I can't wait for other books in the series to be recorded as well.

For those who have not already had the pleasure of reading the Orc Sworn series, I hope you enjoy reading all of the books as much as I did! Finley Fenn has created a whole world and distinct cultures of several clans of orcs, and as you experience more and more of all the orcs you meet in "Lady", you'll love them as much as your favorite characters in any books. Of course her human characters are just as easy to love (or loathe, as you will with some!), and with each book you get a bigger and more complex picture of Orc Mountain and the surrounding regions.

"The Lady and the Orc" is a fantastic read, and even better listen, so make sure you give yourself the gift of several hours of listening to this wonderful story.
