About this listen

When the secrets of the past begin to surface, the truth can be disarming…Twenty-six-year-old Elsie Sherman has had a crush on her brother’s best friend, Henry Logan, since she was twelve years old. Unfortunately, Henry - now an Air Force officer - has only ever treated her like a younger sister, stepping into her brother’s shoes after he was killed in action.

That is until the night when one dance ignites a sensual fire between the two, leaving Elsie aroused and confused. Is she allowed to lust after her surrogate big brother, who also happens to be her roommate? As the passion between them crosses the line into a territory that flirts with the forbidden, Elsie decides to give herself to the man she has always desired. But Elsie is not prepared for where the relationship will take her.

Henry has been harboring two secrets. One can bring them closer together. The other will tear them apart. Now, with each startling new revelation, Elsie realizes that only she can decide if the past can ever be forgiven - and if a future with Henry is worth fighting for.

Love with a Soldier, and all the fallout

I thought this book really resonated. We have so many men and women who have lived with so much. And the fallout happens with them and those they love. I thought this book dealt very well with the subject of PTSD - and what it takes to fit back into life in general - I look forward to her next book! Narration was excellent and showing both POV's was excellent.

Sexy military romance

I enjoyed this angsty, sexy military romance by June Gray. She’s a new-to-me author and I liked what I’ve read of her work so far. I loved that her MMC is Air Force because I seldom see them as the lead. They’re usually Navy SEALs or Army Special Forces. I’m partial to the Air Force because my hubby is a veteran of this particular division.

The narration is excellent although I prefer the female voice actor. I didn't like the feminine acting of the male voice. He makes

Best friend’s sibling trope is one of my favorites and I liked the way June told this with two PoVs, thereby giving us a more well-rounded look of the entire story.

Except for some repetition and a preference for an earlier ending, I don't have much complaint about this book.

It's OVER???????

This is a series of novelettes that were put together into one audio (thank you!!) Honestly, if I'd read them as they came out I would have lost my mind, but thankfully, that didn't happen!

The book started out strong, difficult, painful at times but good. I totally liked the characters and could see where they were coming from. Somewhere along the way the floor dropped out and I thought "WHAT THE?????" I cried and cried (even in line at a local convenience store) but couldn't stop the pain. My chest actually ached for a while. On some level I understand the decisions that were made but I don't think I would ever agree with them or respect them. Once things got back on track it was really fast to the conclusion, so really there isn't much about their new reality or what's next. I felt like there could be more to come but there isn't. I was a touch frustrated with the ending, I thought the setting was funny and all that, but there is still a lot left up in the air about trust and what next.

All in all, it was a good story and I enjoyed it. This came right on the back of another emotional book so I am a bit wiped out now. I can incur what happens next on my own but sometimes I'd like to see a bit more concrete.

Writing was good, narration was good, no petty grievances. It was a good series and I'd say it was worth the credit.

Believable characters and an adorable love story.

This book has a perfect balance of passion, angst, heartbreak, healing, friendship and love.
Elsie’s brother goes away to Afghanistan so she moves into his apartment. Elsie brother has a roommate who just happens to be her brother’s best friend and the boy she has loved since she was a kid. Henry has always treated Elsie as a “little sister” and has never hinted that he saw her as anything more. Her living condition was always meant to be temporary but she soon finds out her brother was killed by a sniper. Elise and Henry are both devastated by Jason's death. They become closer and continue living together for a couple years. Then one night a bold move from Elsie takes their relationship to a whole different level. Henry is finally forced to finally act on his hidden desires. The story was filled with steamy love scenes & a undeniable passion that combusts between Henry and Elsie! Of course, right as they open up and start acting on their feelings for each other, Elsie finds out Henry has been keeping a secret. He is being deployment to Afghanistan, the same place her brother was killed. We get to experience how they deal with their painful separation. I enjoyed this book. This story was very realistic, and I was in turmoil right along with Elsie as she worried about Henry's safety while he was in Afghanistan. Even though this story is told through Elsie's perspective, we did get some of Henry's perspective too. I definitely got emotional at times and needed tissues. This story felt authentic. It dealt with the traumatic effects that soldiers endure after war, and how it effects their loved ones. If you are looking for a sexy, realistic, and fast paced romance, purchase Disarm: The Complete Novel by June Gray.
