Publisher's summary

A sexy, single dad listen narrated by award-winning duo Sebastian York and Andi Arndt.

Single dad Andrew Beckwith has already devoted his life to one girl - and as far as he's concerned, she's all he needs. The inked, rough-around-the-edges bad boy left his reckless ways behind six years ago when his daughter Bell was born. When Bell's mother walked out of their lives, Andrew vowed never to let another woman close enough to hurt them again.

Amelia isn't just another woman. She's an independent, smart, and savvy businesswoman who doesn't have time for sex, much less love. In the midst of a drawn-out, bitter divorce, all she wants is to bury herself in work. But when sharp-tongued Amelia and stubborn Andrew cross paths, sparks fly - and burn.

After all, it's not as if opposites ever attract.

"A five-alarm fire of a book that will melt your e-reader...and a father-daughter relationship that will make little hearts pop out of your eyes." (Lex Martin, USA Today bestselling author)

The First Taste can be enjoyed as a standalone or as book two in the Slip of the Tongue series.

Real & Plausible

Now this is what a true romance feels like. I love how two heart broken people who agree on no commitment end up putting themselves back together. To keep is simple, the story is real and plausible, yet very different from other books. I love how the author started the book off with lust but slowly built a relationship that had trust, love, healing, humor, friendship and eventually HEA. A strong story with two of my favorite narrators... best 10+hrs spent on this book!

City Girl & Single Dad!! The power of opposites attract!!

I devoured this book!!
So so good!!
This is a story about two people who are complete opposites.
A city girl with a job that consumes her time and a single dad from the suburbs.
Both have experienced the worst kind of heart break. They don't get involved with relationships and they keep their hearts guarded from love.
A chance encounter ends up in a One night stand that neither can stop thinking about.
But then one night turns into two.
However, when reality comes crashing back in, they both get a wake up call that brings everything to a halt.
It was so fun seeing these two learn each other and grow in their own ways.
Jessica Hawkins writes beautiful stories and her characters are deep and easy to become emotionally invested in.
I listened to this on audio.
Sebastian York and Andi Arndt did a fantastic job of telling Amelia and Andrews story.
I highly enjoyed this book and definitely recommend it!!

Cool

This was a very cool story, I liked that there wasn't a lot of drama and angst. For some reason I'm a big fan of the single dad stories, so this was right up my alley. The narrators were great as usual, especially Andi Arndt even with her sounding like she may have had a cold or something, she still sounds better than some other narrators I've heard....in any voice she does. Overall I recommend this book.

City Woman Meets Single Dad

I started off this book thinking it was going to be straight hooking up, with little plot. Then the plot thickened. I’m on a strange kick right now is with OW/OM drama and the MC’s passing them and showing up.

This book we meet single dad who is from New Jersey and is a mechanic and a grumpy struck to the point business woman from the city.

Andrew’s sister works for Amelia and are somewhat friends. Andrew stop by with his niece and meets Amelia. They hit it off with gray banter and both bond over time with their failed romantic previous relationships. I loved how a one night stand turned into another into another.

Spice was great. Character growth was great.

Tropes:
Single Dad
Opposites Attract
Rich Girl/Average Man
OW/OM drama
Close family

Tastes like PERFECTION!

Andrew and Amelia, two people who thought they didn't need each other, were exactly what I needed! Jessica Hawkins has really been putting me through the emotional wringer with her Something In The Way series, and this was exactly what I needed from her to make up for it. Delightyfully naughty and oozing with tension and drama. Andi Arndt and Sebastian York were once again a perfect team to tell this story. Loved it!
