About this listen

Johanna Walker is used to taking charge. But she’s about to meet someone who will make her lose control....

It has always been up to Johanna to care for her family, particularly her younger brother, Cole. With an absent father and a useless mother, she’s been making decisions based on what’s best for Cole for as long as she can remember. She even determines what men to date by how much they can provide for her brother and her, not on whatever sparks may - or may not - fly.

But with Cameron MacCabe, the attraction is undeniable. The sexy new bartender at work gives her butterflies every time she looks at him. And for once, Jo is tempted to put her needs first. Cam is just as obsessed with getting to know Jo, but her walls are too solid to let him get close enough to even try.

Then Cam moves into the flat below Jo’s, and their blistering connection becomes impossible to ignore. Especially since Cam is determined to uncover all of Jo’s secrets...even if it means taking apart her defenses piece by piece.

Could Not Put it Down...Will Listen to it Again!

Down London Road is another “can’t put down”, “must listen to again” novel by Samantha Young! Book 2 in the On Dublin Street series does not disappoint.

Samantha Young is such a talent! This is my second book to read by her, after “On Dublin Street”. She masterfully introduces her characters in a way that the reader feels a relationship with each; developing a vested interest in their future, their friends, their family, their loves, their happiness, their struggles and their triumphs. These amazing characters are once again, brought magically to life by Elle Newland.

As is true in her first novel in the series, there is a strong sexual content that is written within the context of the storyline, for mature audiences.

Johanna Walker is rather briefly introduced in the first novel as somewhat of a “gold-digger” interested in men only for what they could give her. She is featured in the second novel and the reader is reintroduced to her, immediately realizing that she is, indeed, remarkable! I don’t want to give to much away…just know going in that you will just love and care for her; and Cameron MacCabe is just what she needs.

Mark your calendars for June 18th when, “Until Fountain Bridge” (an On Dublin Street novella) is to be released by NAL in ebook in the US. This story follows the romance between Ellie Charmicael and Adam Sutherland.

I cannot wait…

Credit Worthy? You’d better believe it!

ANOTHER AMAZING SY LISTEN

If you could sum up Down London Road in three words, what would they be?

Anguishing, suspenseful, romantic

What was one of the most memorable moments of Down London Road?

So as to not disclose any secrets; Cam's anguish and confession to Jo after Blair's overnight visit and also the ending.

Have you listened to any of Elle Newlands’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, "On Dublin Street", she is amazing. I love the accents and Cam's voice was sexy and sultry and oh so heart-gripping when anguished.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Not Sure

Any additional comments?

This was an amazing listen. I laughed, cried, screamed in my head "No - No", emotions stirred deep within me and I sat on the edge of my seat. There were twists and turns that kept things interesting.

I hope that Ms. Young continues to grace us with such emotional prose. Also, one can not help but feel bad for Malcolm, hope he is written, happily, into future books.

Story kept me on my toes!

What did you love best about Down London Road?

I think the character development and the continued interesting sub-stories kept me enthralled and engaged the entire way through. I just couldn't stop listening!

Any additional comments?

The narrator did a great job but the authentic Scottish accent made it difficult at times to understand because there wasn't enough undulation. It seemed as though one word blended into another. Once I got used to it, I had no problem listening to the book.

5 Stars...loved this book

Where does Down London Road rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Top of the list. I would say either 1 or 2. It was very well read

What other book might you compare Down London Road to and why?

I would compare it to Tangeled. The narrators voice was excellent. You could feel the pain in her voice and it felt real!

What about Elle Newlands’s performance did you like?

Loved it!

A Gripping, Sensual Love Story

As a follow-up to On Dublin Street, this story delivers satisfaction. I also thought On Dublin Street was a 5-star romance and although Down London Road can stand alone, so many of the characters derive from On Dublin Street, that I recommend listening to it first. If you like On Dublin Street, you'll want to listen to Down London Road. If you don't like it, then at least you won't be missing part of the series foundation.

It was ok

Down London Road by Samantha Young (Audio Edition)
Narrated by Elle Newlands
On Dublin Street Series #2

♥ ♥ ♥ For me this book didn't have the same pull as the last two. I never really had an interest in Johanna’s story. Her past and current situation made for a story with hard issues to overcome. I wasn’t impressed with the way Cam and Jo met. Cam was a total jerk towards her and later on, he uses something personal just to hurt her, which really bothered me. Both leads in this book seemed very angry and jealous.. Jo was too insecure and Cam a bit too fast to revert back to name calling. There were points for me where I couldn’t understand why Jo couldn’t see she was doing the same things she was accusing Cam of doing. I just wonder if these two keep up this current model.. How long will they actually last?

That said, we also get to meet Cole, Johanna’s younger brother - I liked him a lot. He and Cam have a great relationship and I saw that he gets a book of his own, which I am totally looking forward to. The writing was good and the narration easy to listen to. Yes, it didn’t draw me in as much as the other books, but there was deeper problems for the leads to deal with (abuse, and alcoholism) and this required more backstory, and explanation, which, I felt was done well. The narrator also made this book an easy listen. She was a little breathy for Cam’s voice but I got used to that. Had I read this and not listened.. It would have taken me longer I think. Worth the read? Yes as you get to see what’s happening with all the other characters and how their stories progress. I am looking forward to the next book.

Those sexy Scots!

Elle Newlands did a fabulous job narrating. Great story. Well written. It had me in tears a number of times. I also thoroughly enjoyed "On Dublin Street" by this author.

I'm Down with London Road!

Young definitely switched directions with both Johanna and Jocelyn's characters with her follow-up novel. It would good to see more depth in Jo and a lighter, happier version of Joc/Joss. It has everything a solid book should have—dimensional characters, heartache, great sexual tension and scenes, good resolution, etc. If you like On Dublin Street then this is a solid follow-up novel. Worth the credit!

My ONLY criticism would be that the narrator's breathy version of Cam's voice was a bit much. I don't think it added anything and the preformance would have been solid without it.

Characters you want to be friends with!

I truly loved this book and it's predecessor On Dublin Street which I read instead of listening to. The characters in both books are so real and relatable with insecurities, smart mouths and real life situations. I found myself unable to put down either book until finished and then I wanted more. After reading this book you will feel like a family friend and will wish you were on your way to visit! Of course, the sex is hot but the relationships Samantha writes are event hotter. I can't wait to go back and read/listen to some of her other books outside this catagory. She's added on more fan......
