About this listen

Always deeply personal and unapologetic in her writing, Eastman has made a habit of inviting strangers into her life. In this collection of her best essays, she shares intimate bits with readers like: losing her father and virginity within 30 days, her ongoing battle with depression, and various lessons in love. Eastman reminds us the strength in vulnerability and how freeing it can be when we finally decide to tell the truth.

What made the experience of listening to Everything Sucks, But I'm Still Happy the most enjoyable?

Millennial author Ari Eastman compiles a delightful bag of mixed goods with this series of short essays, seemingly aimed at giving advice to youth who might need it; though anyone can take a thing or two away from her knowledgeable and thought provoking outlook on life and its obstacles. Getting to hear her passionate voice speak her own passionate words adds to the intensity of some of the subject material, digging the words deeper into your thoughts, making the listen extremely effective and enjoyable.

Which scene was your favorite?

The personal stories in which Eastman writes have morals that every person in the millennial age group, and even people out of it, can resonate with. This is one of the things that makes the collection effective.

Any additional comments?

Eastman is a promising writer, and though she is keen on poetry, I would love to see her write a novel someday.
