About this listen
The first book from the number one New York Times best-selling author of Untamed
The inspiring and hilarious instant New York Times best-seller from the beloved writer, speaker, activist, and founder of Momastery, whose memoir Love Warrior was an Oprah’s Book Club selection.
Glennon Doyle’s hilarious and poignant reflections on our universal (yet often secret) experiences have inspired a social movement by reminding women that they’re not alone. In Carry On, Warrior, she shares her personal story in moving, refreshing, and laugh-out-loud new essays and some of the best-loved material from Momastery.
Her writing invites us to believe in ourselves, to be brave and kind, to let go of the idea of perfection, and to stop making motherhood, marriage, and friendship harder by pretending they’re not hard.
In this one woman’s attempt to love herself and others, listeners will find a wise and witty friend who shows that we can build better lives in our hearts, homes, and communities.

Just when Glennon Doyle Melton was beginning to feel she had it all figured out - three happy children, a doting spouse, and a writing career so successful that her first book catapulted to the top of the New York Times best seller list - her husband revealed his infidelity and she was forced to realize that nothing was as it seemed. A recovering alcoholic and bulimic, Glennon found that rock bottom was a familiar place. In the midst of crisis, she knew to hold on to what she discovered in recovery: that her deepest pain has always held within it an invitation to a richer life.

Have you ever wondered "Why did I do that?" or "Why can't I just control my behavior?" Others may judge our reactions and think, "What's wrong with that person?" When questioning our emotions, it's easy to place the blame on ourselves; holding ourselves and those around us to an impossible standard. It's time we started asking a different question. Through deeply personal conversations, Oprah Winfrey and renowned brain and trauma expert Dr. Bruce Perry offer a groundbreaking and profound shift from asking “What’s wrong with you?” to “What happened to you?”

Would you listen to Carry On, Warrior again? Why?
Yes. Her story, trials, lessons, and wisdom is worth listening to. While I don't agree with 100% of what she says, I still found the overall message to be positive and hopeful. What does Glennon Melton bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I loved hearing the author read her own writing. However, there were times I wished her performance was a little more polished and a little less halting. It's like someone gave her feedback to slow down and speak...with...intention...and it just comes off unnatural.Any additional comments?
I saw other reviewers mention the God thing, but it still caught me off guard. I really wish the description mentioned "Christian" since that is apparently a big part of the author's identity and purpose. At times the relentless discussion of faith and God alienated me, but I did like that she mentioned that she equates God to Love when speaking with people of different faiths. I do that already, so it was nice to hear someone of such devout faith make attempts to find common ground with those of different beliefs. One woman's honesty is worth a listen
