Just like Rapunzel from the fairy tales, dreamy, romantic Amy lives a hidden life. She's kept locked away in a tower for her own safety, with her sister as protector. Amy knows it's for her own good. If a dragon catches her scent, she'll be carried away and forced to become a drakoni's mate. But Amy has a secret that she desperately wants to be stolen. She would love to be rescued from her life of idleness and the thought of a devoted drakoni male charging in and saving her from her boredom sounds perfect to her.
Of course, she wants a romantic, loving male who will adore her. What she gets is Rast. He's not kind. Not romantic. Definitely not gentle. But he is utterly and completely obsessed with Amy and he'll stop at nothing to make the delicate female his. Contains mature themes.

In the same style as the others in the Fireblood series there is a pairing where a male dragon (in this one Rast) is attracted to a female he decides is his mate and their contact and connection help clear the madness the dragons experience in this realm. Again we see a large focus by the male on wanting their partner to be pleasured and consenting to whatever they do as well as feeling very possessive and protective and a desire to impregnate their mate.
Unlike what I was expecting from the description on the audible page the dragon Rast is incredibly protective, patient, and gentle with Amy repeatedly countering her own internal self-criticism. But this does have a very different dynamic especially from the last volume where the female in the pairing held lots of control. Amy is painted as an innocent who can do nothing to withhold any of her feelings or thoughts from her dragon partner, and he is very paternalistic and possessive controlling the partnership, shielding his thoughts from her, and keeping her isolated from others. This is why it had a much more Beauty and the Beast feeling to me of keeping the female pleased and well cared for as long as she stays in the castle.
However, Ruby does an excellent job of developing Amy and more than the other heroines in the previous volumes I feel like Amy changes more than any of the other prior females in the series. By the end the audience really gets to see the rise in strength in the character and a sense of genuine pride from her dragon mate. As with all the volumes there is a great deal of story in these volumes continuing to build the world, expanding the territory to new forts, and involving new characters. The characters shown feel very real and alive and are interesting. I was surprised that Amy herself did not fall flat or boring with her innocence but became more intriguing and full as the story progressed, finding her voice and place.
Noelle continues to do an excellent job as narrator bringing the story to life, I still am not really a fan of Jeremy's narration for the male characters, which is totally just my own auditory preferences. Jeremy does a great job with the appropriate inflections and clearly took the time to try to embody the characters and I would love to hear him read other narratives just not this one.
Overall I think this is a great addition to a wonderful series, and again as Ruby has done with each of the other volumes in the series she creates the beginning of a bridge setting up a character that will serve as the new protagonist in the next story. I don't take this as a cliffhanger but something that creates an easy transition and allows the audience to get a taste of what the new pairing will be like. I actually really enjoy this. If you are looking for an immersive world, sci-fi twists, with slowly developed sex scenes, and slowly increasing interconnected cast of characters this volume and series are worth your time.
Excellent 3rd Volume, Beauty & the Beast Partners

The H and h were well explored. . I have not read the books that preceded this one and that would have been helpful. But it is still a standalone book.

The narration is perfection as always!
Amy and Rast story was a little different from every other couple. Amy was so lonely and desperate to find her dragon mate and have him sweep her off her feet like a fairytale, however, Rast a previous Army general feels he is far from Prince Charming. The story and relationship between these two was interesting to read and to see Amy’s character development was awesome. I am excited to keep going!
