About this listen

In this excerpt from In Bed with Susie Bright, Susie interviews author Jillian Lauren. Lauren talks about her incredible real-life adventure “auditioning” for the harem of Prince Jefri, youngest brother of the Sultan of Brunei, and her new book Some Girls: My Life in a Harem.

Some Girls is the jaw-dropping story of a girl from the suburbs who ends up in a prince’s harem and emerges from the secret Xanadu both richer and wiser. More than just a sexy listen set in an exotic land, Some Girls is also the story of how a rebellious teen found herself in the most unlikely of places.

Called “the widest read, most reviled and revered sex expert in America” by The San Jose Mercury News, Susie Bright is one of the best-known sex writers in the United States. Susie has teamed up with Audible to bring you her weekly show, In Bed with Susie Bright, - available only at Audible.com®.

Susie Bright's interview with Jillian Lauren is great. Listening to Jillian intrigued me to read(Listen) to the book. Unfortunately, it is not found although the book icon says its an Audible original and only available from Audible :(.

Its only the interview. Book not found on Audible

Author barely spoke. Interviewer sounded almost condescending. Didn't get much back story at all. I've heard the author speak before and she does a fantastic job telling a story. Too bad none of that was shown in this interview.

    Pretty Dry

What was most disappointing about Jillian Lauren’s story?

That we didn't get to hear much. Susie did most of the talking and said it all and left Jillian only to agree. I wanted Susie to be quiet so I could actually have Jillian tell in her words.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

    Too much talking

    Any additional comments?

Susie, step aside and let your guests talk.

    Susie hogs the interview

Other than the fact that it was an interview with an author, which I felt could be helpful in my pitiful attempt at writing, I really wasn't sure what to expect. After listening, it makes me wonder if the Russian prostitutes, at least we assumed they were prostitutes, that I saw at a swanky hotel in Bahrain were really just harem girls. If so, what is that life like, why would someone choose that life, etc.? I may just buy this book to find that out.

    Interesting interview, piqued my interest.

I found the interview somewhat amusing. Not sure I would read the actual book. The book may be better then the interview with the author.

Very brief interview to draw interest - will definitely purchase book. However, I found the interviewer barely gave a chance to the author to speak. I would have preferred she ask open-ended questions and allow her to answer for herself.

Don't bother with interview - just buy the book
