About this listen

Heartsick and desperate to leave her sorrows on England's shores, innocent Georgina Anderson seeks passage on the "gentleman's ship", Maiden Anne, disguised as a cabin boy. The captain, however, is no gentleman; he's the ex-pirate and irrepressible rake, James Malory.

The black sheep of a proud, tempestuous family, Malory soon sees through Georgina's masquerade and is enchanted by the courageous, high-spirited lady he has forced into intimate servitude. But though he has sworn he will never be enticed into matrimony, Captain Malory has finally met his match on the high seas - undone by the passionate heart of one remarkable beauty whose love of freedom and adventure rivals his own.

I loved this book when I read it a few years ago. This is one of my favorite out of Johanna Lindsey's Mallory series.

Great love story.

Story required American, English and Scottish accents... narrator spoke with American accent through out. Voice for male lead sounded like a grisly old man.

Narrator was not great for this title

Would you consider the audio edition of Gentle Rogue to be better than the print version?
Yes, Listening to Laurel and the different voices is very entertaining. I have gotten so used to her it makes me feel at home.

What other book might you compare Gentle Rogue to and why?
I can't think of any book that has the humor and intrigue as this book. I really enjoyed this whole series, while they are making Netflix movies this series would be amazing.

Have you listened to any of Laural Merlington’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
One of my favorite, however I love her in all of this series, actually I am going to look for more books with her narrating them.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Laugh and love.

Any additional comments?
Great writing, excellent performance I was sad that it came to an end.

Beautiful love story filled with comedy, hope, miscommunication and adventure! The Mallory/Anderson series is a captivating love story from book to book that draws you into the lives of brave, loyal and charasmatic characters you get to follow over the years (books) and grow with as they each fruit off into stories of happily ever after sweetly connecting to the next book. I highly recommend this series! This book will leave you with a smile, giggle and faith restored in romantic literature.

What did you love best about Gentle Rogue?

How the story developed, not to mention how each character is very "3-D"!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Gentle Rogue?

My favorite moment was when James confronts Georgie in front of her family.

What about Laural Merlington’s performance did you like?

How she changes her voice for each character, trying to give each their own tone.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

The adventure that never stops!

Any additional comments?

I love to curl up with this book very so often. When I need a good laugh with a romantic twist.

Can't stop listening to it!

Thanks for getting a great narrator to compliment this book! The whole Malory series is wonderful but this one is my favorite. Friends, if you haven't read the Malory series I am so envious of you because you have weeks of pure enjoyment ahead of you. I read years ago and revist every few years - yes, its one of those! If I could find a leather bound matched set to display on my book shelves I would pay the price even though I already own in every other format. Thank you Johanna for writing this series - what fun it is and I always turn the last page with a smile and a satisfied sigh.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Just a listener - no compensation for my review. As James would say, "You may depend upon it" 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

one of my all time favorites!

I love the story. I really dislike the voice over of James Malory. The narrator made him sound like a 90 year old , truck driving smoker with emphysema. Very Disappointed.

Have always loved this story
