About this listen

Race horse groom Geoff didn't meet Zip-Dash's billionaire owner Zach until the day they won the Derby. The gorgeous tech mogul's vivid blue eyes couldn't stay off Geoff, and the second they're alone his hands have the same problem.

Geoff rebuffs him so gently that Zach's confused. He senses his desires are reciprocated, but something holds Geoff back. Unwilling to give up, he offers him a promotion to become his personal valet. To his surprise, the burly stable worker accepts.

Narrator's English accent wasn't the right fit

This was an odd audiobook. 2.5 stars for the story and I'm struggling whether to bump up to a 3 or down to a 2, but since I wanted to listen to something really short, I'll go with a 3.

First of all the narrator has a British accent and voiced all the characters with British accents even though they're Americans and the story is set in the U.S. I thought I had mis-heard the background information and had to go back a couple times to listen again. I tried to move past the accent, but the formal and proper tone made me feel removed from the story and characters.

Very short stories like this one (90 mins) usually have limited plot and character development, but I expect to at least be drawn to 1 or more characters, especially if the plot isn't strong. It was a Cinderfella plot that was basically a story sketch with too much crammed into it - I had a hard time following the story as it jumped around the country and I never felt any connection to the main characters or their romance.

But if you're just looking for something really short to hold your attention, give it a try - you might like it better than I did!

Nothing in this book made sense

Wow, this story is ridiculously silly and a complete waste time .

Nothing in this book made sense ; not the narrator British English accent when the characters are North Americans , not the author version of the horse winning the Derby and how the horse was treated afterwards, not the Vegas .... Oh well, by now , you get I didn't liked anything about this story.

Meh

I find it really distracting when the narrator has an accent of another country than the characters he is portraying. Combined with out of sync word choices, it made it too hard to get into the story. If you really like the trope, then maybe you’ll appreciate it more.
