From Forever Morris Publishing's best-selling author, Chanel Ivy, comes Her Holiday Wish - a romantic holiday tale of identity, lust, love, and the desire of acceptance against all odds.
My name is Samantha Dodd, and the last thing I want to do is spend the holidays hiding who I really am from my family and everyone back home, but thanks to an early Christmas present in the form of a layoff from my job, that's precisely what I get to do.
I despondently move across the country away from the unfiltered life I've already built for myself and head back to my childhood home, where I have to pretend I'm someone I'm not. Not long after arriving back in my hometown, I find myself quickly and passionately falling into the arms of my long lost best friend, Brooke, whom I've been in love with since I was 13. I also begin to realize I might have grown up with blinders on. In reality, what I remember from my childhood isn't the picture-perfect portrait I thought it was as family secrets are revealed.
Can Brooke and Sam overcome others' closed-minded views to fulfill their one true holiday wish? Or will Sam and Brooke be split up on opposite sides of the country without one another yet again in this moving and powerfully romantic lesbian coming out love story?
Get your tissues out and enjoy this passionate and sexually intriguing emotional rollercoaster ride of two women seeking true happiness no matter what anyone else's expectations of pure love are.

This is the second audiobook I’ve listened to by Chanel Ivy, and once again she mixes several lesfic tropes together to create an entertaining story. Themes for this book include: I can’t share my feelings because I might lose my BFF, intolerant hyper-religious parenting, returning home after years away without communicating with anyone, being abandoned by parent at young age, elderly dementia, misogyny, guess who else in the family is gay too, and always a favorite (and a virtual rule at another publisher, Bella Books, breakup at 75-80% for a makeup.
With three hours to work with (instead of 1.25 hours for Her Hostile Takeover), the author was able to develop the relationship with the MCs, MC Samantha and her family, and MC Brooke and her grandmother and coworkers.
Personally, I got annoyed with the breakup then makeup part of the story, but I know others enjoy the angst, and as mentioned above, at least one publisher demands it. So, perhaps the author felt it necessary to experiment, and I won’t ding her much for it.
Both of her books currently on audible were released on the same day (01-06-2021), so she hasn’t yet had a chance to react to feedback. I’ll repeat my comments on the narration from “Her Hostile Takeover” to save you from looking it up
The author narrates the book herself, and generally does a very good job. She’s best when voicing dialog; during the narrative portions she tends to rush a bit, as speakers often do when giving a presentation. She writes very steamy explicit sex scenes, but she’s at her most robotic when describing those scenes. Perhaps she’s more comfortable writing those scenes than saying them out loud for an audience. If she continues narrating her own books, I encourage her to slow down and make the sex scenes sound as erotic as they’re written.
I enjoyed this story, and recommend it with 4.1* Oh….and btw, as much as I enjoy seeing handcuffs, the current cover for the audiobook and the Kindle edition is MUCH better!
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
My rating and my review was not in anyway affected by my having been provided a review copy.
Likable lesbians endure lots of lesfic tropes!
