Publisher's summary

The world knows her only as Eve...

Though her songs have sold millions, she is an enigma, a bewitching mystery. But to former Delta Force operator Harry Bolt, she is an angel whose sultry, smoky voice brought him back to life after the nightmare of Afghanistan. Nothing else matters. And now a scared, helpless beauty has walked through the door of his San Diego private security firm, running from something secret, something deadly...and Harry knows immediately that this is the woman who saved him. He is the last hope for this intoxicating siren without a past. But though she burns to lose herself in Harry's powerful arms, Eve is wary of trusting this tough, haunted ex-soldier who promises to protect her. Surrender could mean sweet ecstasy or certain doom. Can she open her heart, even if it means risking her life?

Good series

Good series. The narrator is good but when he does actually conversations, it’s not natural and sounds weird. Not at all how it would be in real life or in my head if I were reading it.

Watch out for the quiet ones!!!!!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, because the plot is really interesting and you don't feel like blank is going to happen before it does.

What did you like best about this story?

3 partners in a private security firm and all top notch from 3 top notch branches of the service.

What does Charles Constant bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

A deeply masculine voice with inflexion on just the right things.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Watch Out or they'll get you

Need less inner dialogue & more action

Had to fast forward the lengthy inner dialogue passages to get to the action & character interactions. Loved the plot & the characters.

Too graphic violence and abuse

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Only if I prefaced it with the caution that it details the abuse and mutilation of people plus stalking and terrorizing women.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The story of Harry and his "brothers". The violence. I skipped forward to get to the story.

A VERY VERY NICE LISTEN

Poor Harry, he's been broken (mentally and physically) for so long and, although he is working again, he still needs support and finds it in the haunting and lovely voice of the mysterious singing sensation known as Eva. But little does he know that Eva, and her troubles, are about to come walking through his door bringing danger, secrets, murder and his salvation along with her.

An action-packed tense thriller as Eva (aka Ellen) stops running from the past and starts fighting back - with the help of The Protectors Team spearheaded by uber-sexy, but mentally tortured, Harry who'll do anything for the beautiful tragic woman who's in his office and stirring his lust again after years of celibacy. There were bad guys who were very bad, passion, romance and hot n heavy sex, suspense, three Alpha hotties, a twist at the end and a heartbreaking Prologue that tells of Harry's tragic chilling childhood.

Worth a credit? Yes absolutely - and this could easily be a stand-alone listen as I really enjoyed it and haven't yet listened to book 1 Into The Crossfire. HOWEVER, there were characters from the first book mentioned and I did wish I knew their story, so if you can maybe start at book 1 (I'm downloading it now) and get the backgrounds to the other members which should only increase your enjoyment of this listen.

Awesome story!

This second book in a trilogy by one of my favorite authors Lisa Marie Rice was just a wonderful sexy love story with just the right amount of suspense. Harry is one of three foster brothers who grew up tough and after serving in the army joined his brothers in a security business. He's been severely wounded in the Middle East and is grappling with coming back to life. The heroine, Ellen, is fleeing from a very powerful and corrupt man because she knows a secret he will kill to protect. Their paths cross when she comes to the company for help in getting a new identity and to disappear. Ellen also has another secret, one that has been Harry's light in his darkness as he recovers. Their love story is wonderfully written and I just loved this audiobook. Narration was excellent!

Dumb & bloody

This could have been a good romantic thriller. Lisa Marie Rice has to ability to create interesting & engaging characters and snappy dialogue. The plot started off good, then dumb plot twists ruined it all. The graphic violence was unnecessary; not every book needs blood, gore and guts to create suspense.
