Definitely my favorite of the series. The banter between the MC’s is well written and there’s lots of light hearted jokes and highjinks. Love an MMC who is serious and devoted from the start being constantly put in hilariously awkward situations.

This type story is as old as time but the unique and wonderful way Julie Anne Long tells this story is just wonderful. I actually teared up at this one🤪

I’m not a fan of the narrator but I’ve found a new favorite author for historical romances! I’ve read two of JAL’s books so far - this one and what I did for a duke and really enjoyed them. If you are a fan of authors like sherry Thomas/ earlier works for Mary Balogh with a little more angst, and a LOT of romance, chemistry and witty dialogue, you will enjoy this book. I took away one star because I’m picky and only rate a book 5 stars if it’s one I feel the need to reread portions of immediately after.. this one was gripping and I couldn’t put it down but I didn’t feel the desire to revisit immediately.

I love all of Julie Anne Long’s books, but this was one of my favorites. It was especially intriguing, because it had lots of surprises along the way. I did not want to put it down. A great read.

Narration was great. Justine Eyre has been a slow acquired taste for me as I really hated her voice in the past but with time and finding a good speed to listen to her with ( usually .95x) I've come to actually really love her.

This review is for the 2nd through 6th in series. Highly enjoyed all these and recommended!
