About this listen

I'll be honest with you - I'm no hero. Sure, the media tries to brand every Navy SEAL as some kind of Batman dressed in cammies. There's even a line in one of our cadences: "Superman is the man of steel, he ain't no match for Navy SEAL." You've seen the movies - we're indestructible, invincible. But that night, the one you read about in the papers…all I really wanted to do was get laid.

One harmless f*** with a Curaçao whore, no strings attached. I picked her out of a lineup - wild, dark hair, long legs and a crooked smile. After she sucked me off, I relaxed back onto the creaky, cum-stained cot, thankful for the blissful moments she gave me when I actually forgot for a second the faces of my buddies who died because I made the wrong call, the tears of the children I couldn't save, and the eyes of the enemies I slaughtered during their last seconds of life.

But before I left, her hazel eyes peered into my soul. She whispered in a distinct Californian accent, "My name is Annie Hamilton. I'm an American citizen. I was kidnapped from a cruise ship five years ago. You're my last hope. Please save me."

One desperate plea. This wasn't a Hollywood blockbuster or a New York Times best-selling thriller. I knew that this time there was no room for excuses, no margin for errors. I had one chance to put the cape on and be her hero.

Suspenseful SEAL romance!

This is the first book in this military suspense romance and I found it to be enthralling and well written. The heroine is a girl who disappeared off a cruise ship in the Caribbean 5 years before the start of this story, kidnapped and sold into sexual slavery. The hero is a Navy SEAL who has stopped in port in Curaçao and decides to visit a local brothel. When he’s there he meets the young woman who whispers to him her real name and begs for his help to escape. There are a lot of legalities involved about when SEALs can act to rescue someone, which I did not know. After he’s forced to leave her there with a promise to come back for her on his own, she is moved. When he arrives back there with two of his buddies and finds her gone, it’s a puzzle they have to solve and when they do find her she has a surprise complication. Narration of the story was perfect for the characters.

Enjoyable Read/Listen

Story was very well written and sadly, realistic. We hear about women disappearing in various places and we know sex trafficking is a horrible reality for thousands of victims all around the world. Finding Annie and her rescue were a bit unrealistic but I loved it all the same. At least here, the victim got the happy ending.

My only complaint is the hero all of a sudden having a problem with Annie’s past AFTER he rescued her, AFTER he invited her to move in with him and AFTER he tells her he wants a relationship with her. He should have worked through that prior to getting Annie’s hopes up with the relationship he knew she really wanted.

The twist at the end….didn’t see that coming. Very few books can surprise me so as sad as it was – kudos to Alana Albertson for managing to.

Also, I would move this novel from the Erotica section to military only because the audience for Erotica expects and would want a lot more sex than this book had.

Sweet but not enough details. Story wanted to jump around a lot. But a love story just the same.

love this

I don't know what I was expecting when I read the synopsis of this book. The grit and raw emotion that is unraveled in this novel is unlike any I have read previously. I was amazed at the level of accuracy regarding Seal life, the sex trade, and the drug community. This author really left nothing out when it comes to this book. It really tugs at the heart strings with the surprises.

Awesome!

Wow! This book was awesome. Great Seal book... loved the beginning, and all the action that took place as Pat rescued Annie... Pat was such a great character, and very believable. I think Annie should have been a bit more damaged, but you know what... it totally worked for this story. I totally enjoyed the entire book!

Narration... ok... not big on dual narration... I like the male narrator more than the female narrator...but it was ok...

Great credit, buy or sale...

A little cringe worthy

I found it hard to finish this book. There’s very little action for a Seal story. The main guy is misogynistic, and not in the endearing sense. Tragic female character has very little personality. I will not read the next book in this series.
