About this listen

Nothing they'll do can hurt me. I'm already broken.

When my stepfather dumps me off at Bainbridge Hall, I can tell I'm in trouble. At the mercy of the brotherhood, I'm forced by my mother's husband to follow their every command.

I should run. Far, far away.

From the moment I arrive, these bastards test me. Every time they push, another piece of my past trauma is exposed. But I'm stronger than they think I am, and I've learned the hard way the only person I can count on is me.

One brooding artist. One football god. And one hate-fueled stepbrother.

Mason. Bear. Duke.

The plan is simple: keep my head down and focus on getting the college degree I so desperately want. But this house is not what it seems, and every door I open reveals a memory I had buried deep, things I had willed myself to forget.

Bainbridge Hall. Where the bastards are beautiful, and my nightmares become reality.

Mason is the first book in the Bastards of Bainbridge Hall trilogy, centering around three men and one woman. This should be listened to after the Brothers of Hawthorne Hall trilogy, as it is connected and continues the story. For mature listeners.

Not as good as the first series

This book feels a lot more disjointed than the first series with Kingston, Cannon and Archer. There was a more cohesive storyline and the smut felt better integrated. I think part of it is that I'm not as into some of the troupes: taboo step siblings, enemy to lover, slut shaming and violence. In the first series Archer was a bit of a creep with being such a voyeur but, in this series Mason is creepy AF from the very beginning. I just can't buy into Lennon being into the absolute dumpster fire all the guys have been to her. Even Bear who is the only one that has been decent still crossed lines waaayyyy early in. The level of toxic these relationships are is a bit beyond what I find engaging. This is definitely way darker than the first series but if you like that then you may really enjoy this book. Clearly the other reviews so far have been very positive. I will say the narrators have done a really good job with the book. I'm just really unsure if I want to spend more credits to finish the series. Thus far I'm not emotionally attached to any of them. I'm just let feeling a big WTF...
