Publisher's summary

For centuries, Mara has been a vampire: mysterious, alluring and fiercely independent. Although she has been pursued throughout her life - by vampire and mortal alike - she has never allowed love to claim her. But when she discovers she's pregnant, Mara finds herself torn between two unforgettable men...

Kyle Bowden is the mortal father of her unborn child. A gorgeous, golden-haired artist full of passion and life, Kyle was ready to give his soul to Mara - until he learned her terrible secret. Logan Blackwood is the vampire she created 900 years ago. Now a Hollywood millionaire with all the dark seductive power of his kind, Logan still longs for the woman who turned him.

With time running out, and her dark gift fading, Mara must decide what is best for the miraculous new life growing inside of her. But first she must embrace the feelings in her heart - and choose one lover...for all eternity.

Emotional vampire story about duty a undying love.

Amanda Ashley has done it again, this is book 5 of Children of the Night series and it's a riveting emotional vampire story about Mara's pregnancy, the loss of her vampire abilities and the heartbreaking decisions she is forced to make because of it.

On the sidelines are two men that desperately love her, Logan a vampire and Kyle a mortal but she can only choose one in this tender romantic triangle. Then, added to that there are lots of her enemies closing in, betrayal, intrigue, surprises, danger, treachery, twists, suspense and heartache as the decision she's forced to make has some disastrous consequences.

AA has created an implausible but enjoyable world that draws you in and Mara's dilemma, as she sacrifices love for duty, will hopefully keep your earphones glued in your ears until the bitter-sweet end when friends cannot help her and she turns to the only man that can. Yes, there's some times when you'll think her character is weak, spineless and thoughtless (I hated her at some points) but try to give her a break as she's losing herself, her self-worth and is trying to adjust.

Worth a credit? It will pull at your heart strings and you'll shout "don't do it" but in the end that's why AA's books are an automatic download for me so, of course I'm going to say YES.

Ok

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I don't know, it just made me miss Roberts in death series. The characters didn't have the same magic that Roark and Eve had in the other series and yet some aspects of the couple in this book were the same as Roark and Eve.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Is it finally over, it is yay. No suprises here.

What does Carol Monda bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I wish I had read it. Her voice was pleasant enough but I think my imagination would have been more triggered if I had read it on my own.

Do you think Night’s Mistress needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Not really because I wasn't overly fond of this story
