Piper Stone's hunky, rude, entitled, Scrooge of a boss is pushing her buttons every day, but he's taken it too far this time. Saying she couldn't take the holidays off was one thing; preventing her to go home to her sick child? Not happening. She has zero regrets when she resigns. Bennet McFinnley can't believe his annoyingly perfect personal assistant has actually resigned from her cushy, highly paid position, and he intends to tell her exactly what he thinks about it. But when he gets to her place, he comes to realize he might not know Piper as well as he thought he had.

I am a huge fan of the dickish boss and the tolerant-until-she-isn't assistant trope, and add in that this one also had a single mom who would do anything for her kid, and that it is set at Christmas, I just knew it would be a hit for me. 'Scrooge' was instantly attached to her kid, and that always does something for me too. Thought it did seem that the romance part of it all came on a bit too fast for me, I feel like it was kind of okay in this case because these two had known each other for years through their parents before she started working for him.
There isn't a ton of depth in this short story, probably due to its length and that it's written in third person, but it was still really fun and cute to me. The audiobook was done in a sort of duet narration style, and both new-to-me narrators did a great job. I'd happily pick up the rest of this series, as I assume those books are about his small group of friends.
Cute and fun holiday romance

I still think Mr. Levine makes Bennet sound like a fifty-something geezer instead of a hot, tattooed billionaire scrooge. Maybe the story was just that good, but even his narration worked for me by the end.
Despite the sassy start, and the occasional F bomb, this was more about struggling single mom Piper,
her adorable daughter Maya, and Bennett the Scrooge discovering the joys of friendship, family, and love. The single quickie at the end was almost out of place in this sugarplum feel good listen.
Quite the sugar plum considering the title

Don't like the sound of male narrator's voice..

Re-listened. So impressed with character development. Really hard time with female narrator. H starts out as the world's biggest jerk. This story so worth the credit.
