Publisher's summary

Lina's finally getting the hang of being mated to twin Elemental dragon shifters, but the Goddess gig still has her stumped. She wouldn't trade being mated to Jan and Rick Alexandr, even though she might end up accidentally blowing them up for getting on her nerves.

When Lina, her Watcher, and their dragon mates are summoned to Yellowstone National Park for a shifter Gathering, Lina never anticipates she'd soon become fast friends with Brodey Lyall, a wolf shifter. She senses Brodey's deep grief over a recent loss, but that's the least of their problems.

An ancient foe with an old grudge threatens to destroy everything Lina holds dear. Now it's up to Brodey to outsmart a homicidal, psychopathic chicken bent on revenge. Can Brodey safely reunite Lina with her men, or will a forest fire and Yellowstone's harsh elements prove too much for even the wily wolf shifter to overcome?

A good story but an unfortunate choice of narrator

What made the experience of listening to Steam the most enjoyable?

This is a good story and essential to understand the rest of the series. Lena and her dragons meet Brodey Lyall going to the gathering at Yellowstone and then things get interesting.

What did you like best about this story?

I like this story as part of the series. What a pity the three prequels are being released in audio in reverse order! What a pity the producers couldn't have found a better narrator!

Would you be willing to try another one of Veronica Heart’s performances?

NO. This person does not read with the spirit of the story, nor with all the appropriate accents of the characters.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes. I enjoyed the humour and suspense. Though I have not been to Yellowstone, the author brings it to me. What a pleasure to read!

Any additional comments?

Tymber Dalton, the author can be depended on for both in a well constructed story with characters I want to get to know.

Pre-prequel to 'Fire and Ice' in series

Ok, I get it now. This is the 'prequel' to Fire and Ice in the Triple Trouble series - which is also called a 'prequel'. But the real start to the characters and the series is a short story called 'Boiling Point' in a volume called Tasty Treats volume 3 - that's not in audio (at least not yet) but in ebook and print form off of Amazon.

But this still gives you background as to how the characters came together without having to read Boiling Point first. Though it would have been nice if the author had done only one 'prequel' instead of three, and numbered the rest of the series accordingly.

Either way, the stories are entertaining though.

4 Steam Stars

This says it’s a 0.5 novella, so I thought why not and start this series; it’s a great book of introductions I am a fan of Tymber’s but not a big fan of this narrator. I think it’s her tone that throws me off. It is still an enjoyable read/listen.

I feel for Brodey and am glad he found a kind of kin ship with Lina. I think she came in to his life when he needed a friend the most.
The reincarnation thing with Lina and I think it was Zack has me a little befuddled.

But overall Jan and Rick and Lina have stolen the show I can’t wait to jump into book 1.

Another fun Siren Bookstrand production :-)

What made the experience of listening to Steam the most enjoyable?

The quality of the production and as usual, Ms. Dalton's writing - fun characters and great humor throughout her stories :-)

What was one of the most memorable moments of Steam?

Brodey pushing the bad guy off the cliff, with the guy's scream echoing on the way down, then hearing the same bad guy's angry screech moments later after he shifts into cockatrice form as Brodey tries to free Lina. Funny and heart pounding at the same time!

What about Veronica Heart’s performance did you like?

I like how she does different character voices - male and female. Ms. Heart has improved a lot over time - sometimes as the narrator's voice, she's sometimes alittle too stoic but definitely better at not hanging onto words like she used to in the past. But character voices are always well acted.

So so

The story it self seems to be ok. There is some form of substance to it anyway. The story is a short leading you into another so be aware of that, it says it plain and clear so there is no bait and switch here. The thing I could not get past was this: this book was about shape shifters. Dragon, wolf and bear mainly who are all strong animals. A dragon by every stretch of the imagination one of the strongest. Yet, the narrative is given by a woman who makes the characters out to be weak sounding almost helpless. One one of the main characters is taken captive her DRAGON mates after their own rescue go back to the cabin when they can't find her? Really!! Nah don't believe that. And her voice grated on my nerves. Seriously grated on my nerves she made the Godess who should be a figure of some if nothing else elegance and refinement please. Into a whiny ten year old and then men! Gee, can she have at least tried to make them sound like men! Not girly men! Sorry but not one sounded like they had a drop of testosterone running in their veins. The sex sounded strange because of the whole female sounding guys. Unless the narrator charges I would not be interested in the next book no matter how much the story line pricked my interest to find out what happen. Just to off putting. I like my men to sound strong and capable not like silly sissies. I received this book free of charge in order to give an honest review.

Love the story

I love everything by Tymber Dalton but I'm not fond of the narrator, she's too dramatic.
