Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Yes.
Its a sweet shifter story. Instant connection and lovers of protective males will love the book.

I liked that it referenced Rick being different than most other bears (Brown vs. Black bears) and the differnce in hierarchy.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Its a nice sweet novella.

I would have liked it if the H/H met under different circumstances, and not the usual plot of the heroine running from an ex and the hero rescuing her.

But overall a nice book to pass the time with.

What does David Quimby bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

David adds depth to both Sophie and Rick.

What did you like best about this story?

The fact that it came full circle and the characters had a happily ever after.

Have you listened to any of David Quimby’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No I have not, and I wasn't sure if he was the right narrator for this book initially but then I listened for a few minutes and was drawn in to the many facets of his voice. He brought the story to life in an interesting and entertaining way.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Love brings out the beast in all of us.

Very much enjoyed this story. The backstory, how they got together and they went through. And I do like shifter books read by men. Very enjoyable

The characters are well fleshed out in this novella, which was a delightful surprise considering how short the story is. It has some explicit "spice" to it, so is definitely NSFW but oh so fun. It was a good story. If you are into novellas and spicy, shifter romances, this might be just what you are looking for.

I received this audiobook free for an honest review. This is the first book I have listened to of Marlie Monroe. She did a great job of capturing the reader and keeping the hooked. The story between Rick and Sophie is so life like, for a paranormal. The thrill, suspense and romance kept me hooked until the end. Marlie does a great job of telling this type of story. She is thorough in her story plot and her character builds. The narrator did a great job of distinguishing each of the characters. Really enjoyed this book.

Quick, enjoyable and entertaining shifter story.
Suspense, action, danger, romance and a HEA all rolled into a short, fun listen.

Good first story in a series. Good characters, especially Sophie. Liked her strength and determination. Liked that the shifters are not a secret and they have their own territory to live peacefully. Also liked that this is a stand alone story, no cliffhanger.

David Quimby did a great job with the narration. Nice even pace. Clearly spoken. I have listened to several audiobooks narrated by David and he always does a great job.

I love shifter books. sadly some books can be hit or miss. This book was good! a total hit!
its a great fast paced story, and i love the HEA ending on this one.

In the world created by Ms Marlie Monroe, shifters are known to everyone and most live on shifter reservations. Sophie retreats to Pleasant Valley (a shifter reservation) while trying to escape an abusive ex. Her co-worker, Deb, at the library is a funny woman who says things like, “You know what they say, the best way to get over one man is to get under another one.”

I liked the story and the way Rick and Sophie got to know each other. Despite feeling an instant mate attraction to her, Rick is careful with Sophie and wants to protect her and doesn’t try to push her in to a relationship.
David Quimby is an OK narrator but certainly not my favorite, he uses one voice for narrating everything except direct quotes. I prefer when narrators use the same voice for a person’s thoughts and their direct quotes. His male voices were definitely better than his female. But there wasn’t any background noise or annoying production errors.

I recommend this book if you like shifter romance with an instant mate bond. I don’t believe its worth the cost of a credit but it is selling for $5 at the time of this review. I will probably read another book by Ms Monroe because she tells a decent short story and I am interested in the shifter reservations she’s created.

Abusive Ex Sends Sophie in to the Arms of Her Mate

While another story about shape shifters this one follows the lead of all others. Girl in trouble finds her mate and he rescues her and she rescues him in return two years later she's having his baby. Although I did enjoy the story I do wish someone would throw a loop in the story. Why is there never a female shifter? Would love to see that and how it turns out.
