Publisher's summary

Ben Hudson had a thing for shy, sexy Reese Monroe from the moment he first saw her three years ago. Back then, she was married and living in Boston - two very good reasons for the Miami detective with a bad-boy reputation to stay away. But that was then.

Now Reese is divorced and moving to Florida, where her mother has rented her a small beach house - one that happens to be owned by Ben. Living right next door, he can't get Reese's soft curves out of his mind. He has waited three long years to touch her in all the ways he's been dreaming about, and this time he won't let anything get in his way. For Reese, Ben's sudden advances are thrilling but leave her stunned.

With her limited experience in the bedroom, she never expected a man with such a wicked reputation to go after her. She knows she should be on guard, but he's a temptation she can't resist. And when trouble follows her down from Boston, threatening her life, Ben may be the only one who can help her.

Love thru a lot of sex

My overall score would be more like a 3.75. I'm a Rhyannon Byrd fan. And I largely liked this book and will likely read the next book in this series, which I hope is Alex's story. But, I didn't like it as much as I did her paranormal stories. And some of the problems with her paranormal story, especially redundancy, is the reason I don't read ALL of her books. Still I never regret purchasing one of her books.

In this book, there was a lot of redundancy. Things stated too many times in essentially the same way included talk about how Ben loves performing cunnilingus on Reese, how "sexy" Ben and Reese find each other, and how their kisses were "raw and explicit". It got old pretty quickly but didn't completely detract from the story, but that's likely because I give this author a lot of latitude because I'm a fan. And I like sex in my story, and there a plenty of raw sex in this book. And the sex scenes weren't as redundant in their total descriptions as were other aspects of the book. So that was good. And I really liked Reese. The journey to love was not too easy and made sense, though the ending was a bit of a push, an extreme, and not needed, IMO. And the entire relationship, practically, was based on great sex. Of course, this isn't the first book to base romance and forever after on sex. But I'm never a fan of and find it hard to buy HEAs based almost entirely on great sex and great pheromones. So I'm hoping that the stories in this series improve.

Steamy...

Where does Take Me Under rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Very descriptive & dirty compared to a lot of romance books I've listened to ;). Definitely made me blush!

Story good, reader needs work

Had to get past readers version of male leads attempt at Southern twang. Made him sound like a hick rather than a hero half the time. Good thing story good enough to pull me through.

The story takes two paragraphs of the book

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

No idea.

What could Rhyannon Byrd have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Actually have a story to tell instead of attempting to have steamy sex scenes where the attempts at erotic only included vulgarity.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Frustration - kept waiting for an actual story to develop.

Any additional comments?

If you want "steamy sex" -read 50 Shades - if you want a story, then keep looking, don't stop here.

Not worth a credit

story was so predictable, halfway through I was bored. The lead guy was so horribly portraid- nothing to do with the and more to do with the writers imagination. I think the only reason I read this from cover to cover was the narrator. She isn't the best but she was bareable.
