Publisher's summary

Jack is focusing on building an equine therapy school for children with special needs and works hard alongside his normal horse training and breeding program. He and Riley have settled into a softer, quieter kind of family life, but that doesn't stop them using the barn with the door to the fullest!

But the lull comes before the storm.

Riley and his new assistant travel to Laredo, and across the border into Neuvo Laredo as part of an exploratory team and things very quickly go to hell. Riley is caught in some serious Cartel problems and suddenly everything Jack holds dear is threatened.

Highly recommend.

This next chapter in the story of Jack and Riley's life brings with it a threat that could tear their lives apart. A darkness that lingers, causing confusion, pain and doubt.

Struggling to pave his own road in the family business while juggling marriage and family obligations is a weight on Riley's shoulders that's threatening to drown him. Fortunately he has a very sexy, growling man that refuses to let his husband sink.
Jack is dealing with his own issues while trying to get the ranch ready for those that need therapy, but he remains an anchor for his husband and their ever growing family.

With each new installment in this series I fall a little bit more in love with these characters. RJ Scott manages to bring something new to each book, pulling me deeper into the world Jack and Riley covet. She paints a picture with vivid, raw strokes on a blank canvas with intricately woven storylines rounded out with slightly broken, imperfect characters full of life, love and determination. Sean Crisden wraps his voice around the rough edges with various tones and nuances, inflections that emphasis each character and their own individual voice in the story. I'm especially partial to the deep, gravelly tone I've come to associate with Jack.

Definitely a must listen!

Texas Fall

Another beautiful story for Riley and Jack!

Texas Fall is the sixth book in RJ Scott’s Texas series. This series must be read/listened to in order as it follows the lives of Riley and Jack Campbell-Hayes and their family. I’ve read and listened to this series many times and every time I fall in love with it more.

Nothing is simple in the lives of Jack and Riley and in this episode of their lives, they see real struggles. Riley’s trip to Mexico and his kidnapping has lasting effects. Jack struggles to pull Riley out of his own head and help him work through his issues. I love each of these books and experiencing the family that the men have built.

All the men on the ranch are doing well and their relationships are going strong. In this installment, Darren is added to the mix. He’s cleaned up all the messes from his brother and is ready to start a life with Vaughan, wherever that will be. Jack’s dreams of his riding school are getting closer to fruition. The kids are growing and enjoyable. And, Eden and Sean are involved in this story. I love how much Eden has grown since the first book!

Sean Crisden is a fantastic narrator that brings this story to life! Even when I read this story, I hear his voice narrating it in my head because it’s perfection! He is able to give each character distinctive voices and is consistent with the use. He has a pleasant voice, keeps a great pace and is clear and concise is his narration. He conveys emotions through the characters and lets the focus be on the story and characters, not the narration.

I love that even though each book is a new addition to the soap opera, that the love remains constant. In this one there is drama for Jack and Riley, but the two men’s love remains strong. If you’ve never listened to this audio, or read this series, I’d highly recommend it! Though I love both the books and audiobooks, my preference is the audiobook. It’s easy to fall into the story, shut out the outside world and just be part of the Campbell-Hayes family.

More love and drama on the Double D ranch

Life carries on at the Double D ranch and in the Campbell-Hayes household, and we are treated to plenty of glimpses of Max, Hayley and the twins in this instalment.

In fact, there’s a lot going on in this story with many of the various storylines continuing. Plus there’s a touch of the soap opera style drama that featured earlier in the series.

Liam has to build up the courage so he can take the stand in his upcoming court case against his former employer and abuser. It's great that he has the support of Marcus and all the other guys on the ranch.

Jack has his sights set on an equine therapy school and he wants to help the other lads in the abuse case. Vaughan and Darren provide another love interest storyline as they sort out their relationship. Sean and Eden’s relationship also needs a helping hand from Riley and Jack.

Issues at work cause tension and drama for Riley, and subsequently for Jack. Thankfully the danger is resolved swiftly, but the incident once again reminds us how much the guys are in love and can’t even contemplate a future without the other. Jack provides Riley with comfort and support when he returns home.

Jack and Riley remain a favourite couple of mine. It’s good to visit them and see them deal with relationship, family, and other issues. They come out stronger and more in love, if that’s possible, and their characters are more mature and considerate of others.

Sean Crisden narrates this story and series so well. His voice is easy to listen to and his portrayal of each character—male and female—is superb and consistent.

Enjoying Jack & Riley's evolving story!

No disappointments in Sean Crisden's rich telling of the Double D's sixth book. Biggest creepout being the photo selected for this title!!! Seriously, RJ, what the hell?? The handsome men captured in book 1 seem to have been fried & possessed on this installment's photo. BLECH!!!🤮

Fortunately the magic still comes through, and I'm ready to acquire "Texas Wedding." PLEASE give careful consideration of the likenesses used to create positive images during our hot hours of listening pleasure.

A Loyal Texas Series fan.

Get the tissues ready

This one really takes the cake in this series. I absolutely love this one. It will make you stop and cry. Brings the romance between Jack and Riley back from the wishful thinking of a relationship to the realities of when shit hits the fan, and how to get through it.

Great Continuation

This is a great continuation of the series, there is a lot going on and a lot of emotions. Crisden really brings the story to life with this little roller coaster of a story.

Another Great Entry

Overall Series 5th Re-Read 2019:
As I've said many times before, RJ Scott's Texas series was the first published M/M genre book that I read so they will always hold a place of pride in my heart. No matter how many times I read or listen to the journey Jack and Riley Campbell-Hayes, their friends and family take I never tire of it. The characters and the paths they take are so real, so honest, the good and the bad, the heartache and the healing, it never fails to put a smile on face.

As for the audio versions, I can't imagine anyone other than Sean Crisden bringing these stories to life. Sean's voice make Jack, Riley, and the whole Texas family(which grows with each entry because its not just blood that connects everyone) real. Honestly I felt as if I looked up I'd see Jack with Solo Cal out in the yard or Riley on the floor with his maps.

If you haven't read/listened to Texas before I highly recommend giving it a go but it is a series needed to be experienced in order. I warn you though Jack and Riley can be addictive, you'll never want to say goodbye and now thanks to audio you really don't have to😉😉.
