About this listen

Investigating a noise in the attic of her historic home, Maggie Holliday encounters a handsome man in a Civil War uniform. He calls her "Isabel", seduces her in ways the shy academic had never dreamed of, then literally vanishes.

With every fleeting visit, Maggie's mysterious lover, Ethan, takes her closer to the edge of ecstasy and madness. Is he really a ghost? Far from chilling her, his touch is incendiary; it all feels so real and so very, very good. And so very familiar.

Ethan insists Maggie's the reincarnation of his long-lost love. And after a few incredible nights in his arms, Maggie is inclined to believe him. But does she dare surrender to a passion that transcends time, tragedy, and even death?

Loved the story

I really enjoyed this story. I know it is called "blaze" for a reason, but the sex and crass sex words just seemed thrown in. But they were very few. It was romantic and a nice story.

Surprising ending!

I enjoyed the book very much. I was, however, very surprised by the ending. I expected a normal ghost story, with maybe a couple of surprises along the way. I wasn't expecting how the book actually ended!

Entertaining love story through time.

This was a sexy and enjoyable love story across time, albeit some parts were absolutely unbelievable and hard to swallow. I'm not talking about loving a ghost, I did not have a problem with that. What I found hard to accept was Maggie's abusive boyfriend and how long she put up with him. I also found her reaction to a stranger in the attic on a stormy night incredulous. Any sane woman would be screaming/running/fighting him off rather than kissing him. Hope Tarr has another audiobook called "Bound To Please" that I recommend first. Nevertheless, The Haunting was a good listen with some steamy love scenes.

Good...but

This story was well written, and thank goodness it didn't go from one era to the other, (I hate those, it's hard to figure out where you are and who you are with), at first I thought that is what was going to happen, but it didn't last. The story was good, the sex was good, but the ending was very different. Not sorry I got it though.

Just OK for me..

Any additional comments?

This was nothing special and I'm still wondering how I feel about the end. The author didn't seem to care how stupidly people talked sometimes. I was rolling my eyes constantly.
The narrator did an ok job with the voices but really had no emotion.
I wouldn't recommend this book but someone else might think it's terrific. It's all a matter of your taste in books.

A pleasant surprise at how much I enjoyed it

I actually really enjoyed and was quite surprised that I enjoyed it as much as I did. I am normally a “mystery” girl but this is nothing but a straight up paranormal romance. I do admit I have always had a soft spot for ghost and ghost stories. I enjoyed all the characters and the fact the story gave you insight to more than just the main characters thoughts/feelings.

If your are looking for a lot of twists and side plots, this isn’t it. The story is very straight forward and predictable. I wasn’t upset by the predictably as it was more like the predictably of a comfy couch versus the predictably of a monotonous job. The only thing that leaves the reader at a unknown is how the author is going to end it and tie up all the loose ends.

The only thing that kept this from 5 stars is all the talk in the book about how strong Maggie is. Well she is not a strong character but she does grow towards that in in the end. The author tries to explain this away with some not so good excuses.

The narrator was very good at all the voices and I didn’t feel like they overdid the southern accents. This was my first Romance Package selection so I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it.

WOW, this is one well written book.

This made an improbable situation very believable. To give hope of things being righted across time to work out in the end, or beginning as the case may be in this story.

Predictable, but cute...

The haunting is a sweet, somewhat predictable novel. If you are in the mood for a few hours of simple entertainment, then by all means, this is it...
If, however, you are expecting something...you may be disappointed.

Enjoyable!

I'm a sucker for a ghost story romance and this story will quickly go to the top of my favorites list. I would love to see this author write more like it!
