About this listen

He is the guardian of hell, more monster than man. She is the goddess of oppression, more angel than woman. Together they will enter the flames to battle a dangerous horde of demon lords - and discover a passion unlike any other....

Warm but not Hot

As a prequel, it's not suppose to give a lot away and tells how the main characters came to be. For that, it does a good job. The realtionship with the characters, though, was kind of boring. It's the typical boy (who really is hot thinks he's not) falling for the typical girl (who thinks she's not worthy of said boy) and vice versa. Am I complaining about the book? No way. The romance part of it was sweet and tender, but the ending nearly broke my heart.

As for the narrator, he was good. He's in my top 10 but I always compare them to Holter Graham and Ray Porter. He's bland a lot of the time, unless there's a stated emotion. It's a little hard to follow, but once you get used to him, it makes more sense. There's no accent, which would have helped with the character changes.

This one would get a 3.5 star rating, if there were half stars in there.

Romeo and Juliet story.

Right away, the story is engaging and the characters are likable, both tortured souls that gravitated towards each other. The sex scene was a little weird and I do not care for what ends up happening to them, but it is a prequel and the very end makes me want to listen to the remaining series. Since this is the first book that I have read of the series it does look promising and enjoyable, plus the price is right to try something new. Also good by Gena Showalter is Catch a Mate and Animal Instincts both are funny.

The Darkest Fire Lords of the Underworld Prequel.

The book did made some clarifications of the past historical point that were brought on during the others books. This points were talked about but the actual story was very brief and it brought the lamb light of how the Gods puts some one up from a problem they did not want to deal with in the hands of another and move on with their selfness. How easy it is for them sacrifice others for the demons they help created. only to used her bones to build the prison of the demons.

nice story

This is a nice paranormal romance but the reader feels a bit monotoned. I would have preferred it if he would have been more exaggerated with his voices.

Second time around much better

I just listened to this again and enjoyed it much more then I did the first time. Now I'm ready to listen to the rest of the series some of the stories for the third time. I love Gena Showalters books. I recommend them all the time.

Good, Short, Simple!

This is a prequel to Lords of the Underworld series. I have not listened to any other in this series as of yet.

I enjoyed this listen as it was short yet had some "steam". I was able to finish it in a day. At the end I did feel lost. As there needs to be more to this. Understanding dawning I believe that will come in book 1...2..ect.

Max dose such a good job with Gene's books(I have listened to another series by her). He is intense but calming and can be very seductive with his voices.

This is great, CHEAP entertainment.

The narrator's voice is like a lullaby. It keeps putting me to sleep.

I have made two different attempts to listen to this story and both times on two different days and times, I have been lulled to sleep. I am just going to skip ahead and attempt the next book. We shall see what happens.

I'm giving this series another try as I'm told to continue after book 1 because that's when the story starts picking up. I'm glad these are in RP. This story in particular was a good background to how the demons got out. Im looking forward to rereading book 1 The Darkest Night.
