Publisher's summary

There's punishment - and then there's vengeance.

Nora Sutherlin is in handcuffs, held captive by two men. Under different circumstances, she would enjoy the situation immensely, but her captors aren't interested in play. Or pity.

As the reality of her impending peril unfolds, Nora becomes Scheherazade, buying each hour of her life with stories - sensual tales of Soren, Kingsley, and Wesley, each of whom has tempted and tested and tortured her in his own way. This, Nora realizes, is her life: Nothing so simple, so vanilla, as a mere love triangle for her. It's a knot in a silken cord, a tangled mass of longings of the body and the heart and the mind. And it may unravel at any moment.

But in Nora's world, no one is ever truly powerless - a cadre of her friends, protectors, and lovers stands ready to do anything to save her, even when the only certainty seems to be sacrifice and heartbreak....

The Mistress is verrry Clever

This series has so many layers it is no wonder I stayed up way too late to finish.
Nora is much cleverer than I gave her credit for and Wes oh Wes he learned some hard life stuff in this book but I believe for the better.
I didn’t “see” that for the ending but I didn’t see it either I had a hunch.

Oh Kingsley I love how we now have the full story and why he needs them both but also his Juliette it really does make a whole lot more sense.

Completely loved this series can’t wait for more.

The narrator was ok again I am not sure, she does a better job with the French this time but not so much Wes’s accent. Still a good performance.

Love/Sad

I love these stories and how on the edge of my seat they keep me. I am sad the books are not all read by the same person.

Terrible Narrator

What made the experience of listening to The Mistress the most enjoyable?

I LOVE Tiffany Reisz's books. She's an excellent story teller and her characters are complex, but fun to follow.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

This narrator was horrid. She confused her French and English accents so that certain characters were incomprehensible (particularly the editor's wife, who is supposed to be British but ended up sounding like characature of a Transylvanian vampire).

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Loved the book itself.

Any additional comments?

Come on audible, either get narrators who can do accents well or have the narrators skip the accent entirely. You're ruining great books this way.

What a conclusion!

I just hope it isn't really a conclusion! I want more of Zach and Nora and Soren and Grace. Holy crap, this was amazing. Reisz is on her game like never before, and I was left gasping and begging for more as usual.

All the pieces come together!

What a story! The Mistress really brought together all the pieces of all of the previous books and I was not expecting such a masterfully crafted web. WOW. Just, WOW.

Dark, mysterious, page turner!

This story will most definitely keep you engaged! I love how there is still love and acceptance in so much darkness.

Narration an unwelcome distraction

I am a fan of the series and I wish a good narrator could have done the entirety. Of the narrators for the books, this was my least favorite by far. The voices all had a French accent - more specifically it seemed a little boy/girl French accent. Other accents in the story (Dutch, Welsh, southern) were all muddled and given a youthful French turn. It became a big distraction and I barely made it through the first chapter.

Nora is addicting - can't go wrong with Tiffany!

Tiffany is my favorite author, you just cannot go wrong with her writing, her story line or her characters. Someone please lock her away to write more and more and more, because I can't get enough.

Best series I read all year

Wow, I am awestruck. This book finishes The Red Years quartet. It is definitely the best series I’ve read all year. It is well written, clever, a great character study, and just a great story line unlike anything I have ever read. It is erotica, but the most clever erotica I’ve come across. It isn’t about the sex, really. It is so much more. Faith, Loyalty, Love, Friendship.

This installment, has Nora captured and taken from Soren and Wesley. They fight to get her back before it is too late. Soren and Wesley also fight their own demons with each other. And Kingsley must fight his own demons with his family. Towards the end, I nearly cried with the sacrifices made out of love. And the book ending? Holy cow, something was left to the imagination, and I’m dying just thinking about it.

The Prince was my favorite in this series, followed by The Mistress, The Angel, & The Siren. Each book got just a little better, which is hard to do. I look very forward to The White Years quartet. And a few novellas.

On the down side: I am very disappointed with the narrators that were chosen for the books in this series. What is with the inconsistent accents in this series. Soren has an American accent in one book, Kings English in another. Same with Kingsley, American English vs French accent. Wesley, no accent vs accent? And Grace’s accent? Was that supposed to be Welsh?? And it sounded like Laila’s Danish accent. I have a Danish friend and her accent sounds nothing like that. It’s enough to make your head spin. If the series was mediocre at best, I would have returned these books. But I won’t because I want to support this author. Similar thing happened with The Fever Series by Karen Marie Moning, the changing narrators. It is the most annoying thing ever. I’d suggest the book form over the audiobook.
