About this listen

Notorious Nora Sutherlin is famous for her delicious works of erotica, each one more popular with readers than the last. But her latest manuscript is different - more serious, more personal - and she's sure it'll be her breakout book…if it ever sees the light of day.

Zachary Easton holds Nora's fate in his well-manicured hands. The demanding British editor agrees to handle the book on one condition: He wants complete control. Nora must rewrite the entire novel to his exacting standards - in six weeks - or it's no deal.

Nora's grueling writing sessions with Zach are draining…and shockingly arousing. And a dangerous former lover has her wondering which is more torturous - staying away from him…or returning to his bed?

Nora thought she knew everything about being pushed to your limits. But in a world where passion is pain, nothing is ever that simple.

A true submissive's story

Great writing. Great characters. Unusual plot for a BDSM-friendly erotica novel.

The plot is multi-layered with unexpected twists and turns. The characters are complex and intriguing.

The best insight I've ever read into the mind of a submissive.

The sexy times are pretty standard BDSM with M/s and sadomasochistic content.

Narration is good.

As other reviewers mentioned, a couple of the characters are Catholic, and also live the BDSM lifestyle, which may challenge some readers.

**SPOILERS**

This book is unusual in that the traditional love story does not result in HEA, which rips your heart out for two characters who are very much in love with each other. But it is interesting in that the submissive's love story does end up with a HEA of sorts, with one of the characters choosing the path less traveled by over vanilla love.

Overall, an outstanding BDSM-friendly read.

almost great

i hated the narrator's inability to use different tones or voices for the different characters.
it really distracted from the story and was frustrating.

This book just did it for me!

Would you listen to The Siren again? Why?

The Siren is the first installment in Tiffany Reisz's dark erotica series titled: Original Sinners. This book just did it for me. I've always been a sucker for ass-kicking women in fiction, but that has historically been limited to the fantasy genres. But holy cow, Ms. Reisz created a mostly-contemporary heroine that just blew me away.

Nora Sutherlin is like two women in one...and they're both amazing! One is dominant, merciless, strong, successful, self-assured, and basically worshiped. The other is incredibly vulnerable, submissive, protective, troubled, and a bit unconfident actually. However, they both are sexy as hell and incredibly likable.

As noted in many of my reviews, erotica is not a genre I typically enjoy due to the typical "just enough story to justify the next sex scene" writing style of the particular authors I have read in the past. But Ms. Reisz keeps a quality storyline flowing and incorporates endings that have readers scrambling for the next book. The characters are layered and the relationships are incredibly complex - when you've got some strong BDSM factors going on then they have to be or it just won't work. I am a newfound fan of Tiffany Reisz and can't wait to read the rest of this series!!!

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Siren?

My favorite quote:
"The same wind that blows us off course can turn and carry us home."

What about Aeron James’s performance did you like?

Love the tone.

Not your typical Erotic Romance

For lovers of literature/writing. With a splash of bdsm. Slow at times, but overall enjoyable.

Wonderful story with great narration.

I had a friend gift me an ebook copy of The Siren. Because my schedule is so hectic, I bought it on Audible. She said I’d love it. She told me it was taboo. She knows me well. Taboo she said, well that was one of the best parts. At one point while driving down the road, it came to the point in the story when the reader is clued into who Soren is and let me tell you, I was screaming at my phone (that is the device I use for Audible). I was in shock. Wonderful, mind blowing shock at the plot twist in this story.

The narrator took some getting used to, and the tense that the story was written in isn’t my favorite. Yet it all worked out amazingly. The narrator grew on me and I loved the many accents he had. And the third person almost read like a television show. I could see the characters and environment that they were in.

As far as BDSM books go, this has to be one of my favorites. Nora’s story is heartbreaking. I fell in love with all of them. Soren, Zack, Wesley, they all have their little kinks and I loved them all. If you are expecting hearts and flowers with a lovely ending, you are in for some disappointment. This is a forbidden love story and each of the stories within the story have an ending, it just may not be what you expect. Thankfully the series goes on and maybe I’ll get the ending I want. Great Story Ms Reisz. I am now and will forever be a huge fan.

This is a book you will remember for years to come

5 years ago I bought and listened to this book and I believe I have read this series only 1 time, yet I judge almost all BDSM and slightly dark books against this one. Recently I realized I have read and listened to thousands of books and I should start writing reviews. While writing a review for another book, I realized I was judging it against this series and had to pull back and rewrite. Tiffany should do a master class on how to write this genre. The overlapping story lines are woven together sooo seamlessly. I imagine she had a huge board in her office linking characters to story lines similar to those from police dramas, but hers was woven together like some sort of tapestry. It wasn’t until book 3 or 4 that I realized the brilliance of the series and how EVERYTHING… no joke EVERYTHING happens for a reason and is connected. The only reason I would call this a BDSM fantasy is because I can’t believe life works this way for all parties involved. I didn’t have to engage suspension of reality, but I had to accept that people are flawed and even in their flaws, can have boundaries and limits. With each page I was yearning for the happily ever after and pleasantly surprised when I didn’t necessary get it, because it seriously worked. If you can get down with flawed people, unrequited love, and the unconventional, then this is most definitely the series for you. Also - the narrator was sooo perfect!

I’ve already read this book but I love it. The main character is so amazingly rich and you know her but she is unknowable.

I hate when it’s over. The first time I read this I hated the end and what happened to the main character. But having read the series she is one of my all time favorites that can’t be boxed into any particular archetype.

You will LOVE this novel

Would you listen to The Siren again? Why?

Of all three books this one is narrated the best. I've heard better narrators but Aeron James has a pleasant voice and does accents quite well. I've always found male narrators doing female voices disconcerting though. I think Davina Porter is the only one who can really pull off every accent and perform both male and female roles. The story itself is very exciting and I wouldn't hesitate to listen to it again.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Siren?

That would have to be when Grace showed up at Nora's house and their heart to heart.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Aeron James?

Absolutely.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I wanted to however life has a way of interfering, lol.

Any additional comments?

It's difficult to find a well written erotic novel. If you liked 50 Shades but grew tired of the predictability and incessant use of words like murmur and clambered then you will fall head over heels with this series. Tiffany is a very talented and sophisticated author.
