Publisher's summary

When Colby earned a swimming scholarship to the Falconer Institute of Training, he expected to spend all his time either training or studying, but that was before he looked out of his living room window and straight into the dance studio opposite.

It's taken Noah years, but he's finally got his life in order. He teaches dance classes all day, hits the clubs every night, and he's not looking for complications - especially not in the form of overly-innocent swimmers who like to spy on him from across the street.

The first time Colby approaches him, Noah has no trouble turning him away. It's only when Colby returns years later, to collect on a casually delivered promise, that Noah finds himself incapable of keeping Colby locked out of his carefully re-constructed life.

Their kinks may match up perfectly, but their lives and their pasts couldn't be more different. Years have passed, but will what they have together turn out to be worth waiting for?

Making the Right Choice

Noah has had a hard life full of some risky behavior and tough choices. But he is a beautiful dancer which catches the eye of the teenager across the street. Colby knows what he wants but Noah is honorable enough to send home until he's grown up. Three years later Colby is back and he's smart and caring enough to want things to be different and special for Noah. Their romance is sweet, caring, and hot by turns. They find that somethings are worth waiting for.

Gorgeous

I don't often think stories are pretty much perfect, but I thought this one was. I savored the whole thing, and wished for more at the end. I read another review that said they thought it was too long - wow, that was the opposite of my opinion. Every bit of the story was necessary in my opinion. The writing was tight, and well polished. It is well-edited and the writing style is very appealing to me, very concise and elegant.

Everything in this story felt realistic within the world the story built, and the plot progressed logically. Both of the MCs were very sympathetic and likeable characters, with relatable flaws, desires, and vulnerabilities. The dialogue was somewhat sparse but felt natural.

Possible spoilers below:

I absolutely loved the premise of this story and how unique it is. The situation of the boy, Colby, observing and caring about the man, Noah, from afar for so long was very different, and allowed for a believably intense level of dedication, love, empathy, and other strong emotions to grow in Colby before they even had their first date. Colby becomes determined to treat Noah with a respect and kindness he's never been shown before. I have a huge soft spot in my heart for that kind of story. It is wonderful and amazing when a person can understand another persons needs so well, and slip past their shell, surprising them by treating them better than they've ever been treated, and teach them that good things Can happen to them, and that they deserve love and respect and sweetness.

On top of that, the dynamic twist that takes place between the two MCs was unexpected and felt very right to me. Noah is a realistically complex character, and the combination of his vulnerabilities and his strengths is fascinating. The contrasts of Noah's damaged self, alternating between fear and recklessness when he's unsure, and domination when he feels safe, juxtaposed with Colby's more powerful frame and determined but also gentle, kind, submissive nature. The way Colby was leading the way emotionally and Noah physically was very interesting. I loved that their relationship's "power" dynamics, for lack of a better descriptor, was like a dance itself. Colby gifts Noah with his submission, and by doing so, helps heal him and return him to his more natural way of being.

For me, this story hit a sweet spot and I really appreciated every bit of it. I loved Kim Dare's Axel's Pup as well, which I read first, and this one has the same level of elegant and understated writing, with complex and unique relationship dynamics.

Really enjoyed this sweet story

I’ve always liked Joe Arden’s voice and this one was no different. I loved Colby being so earnest and such an old soul. I know some people will complain about his maturity, but I have a son the same age and I know it’s possible.

I feel like I am the other main character, Noah. My husband came along to rescue me from the similar destructive behavior. We were also 18 and are now 43, he’s my constant and we have 2 great kids! So anyway, I love this story bc he touches my heart in a very familiar way.

Don’t pass it up. ❤️❤️❤️

Story was ok, but felt too long and drawn out.

Would you try another book from Kim Dare and/or Joe Arden?

Yes. I did like the narrator and the story was ok.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Shorten it.

Have you listened to any of Joe Arden’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No. I did like the narration, it was one of the better that I've listened to.

Was Worth Waiting For worth the listening time?

I did listen to the end, but I would have like to have read the book instead so I could skim over parts. I wouldn't recommend the audible version.

Enjoyable and a little different

I liked this story but didn’t love it. A different kind of story of a young man waiting to grow up for the weary slightly older man. The characters were likable, the steamy scenes hot but it felt like a story glossed over.

Super steamy with a side of sweet

I was pretty nervous for this book and didn’t pick it up several times before I finally did and I’m so glad I did! It was such a steam little surprise. The story felt complete despite its length and really gave me the chance to connect with and love the characters. Colby is so sweet, I adore him. Noah and Colby together are hot hot hot! This book was a steamy surprise. And as always Joe Arden is phenomenal.

Sexy narrator voice

4 Blue Roses
4.5 Blue Flames
Narrator Joe Arden brings a smooth sexy voice to this hot and beautiful coming of age discovery of D/S relationships. I was surprised by the humorous relationship between brothers and will definitely listen to the next book to hear what Colby’s brother is up to.
I definitely recommend this audiobook as it has deeper messages and satire in-bedded in the story.
Happy Listening
