Daniel Maldonado’s parents were born in San Juan, Puerto Rico and later emigrated to New York and then California in the late 1940s. Daniel Maldonado was raised in Los Angeles, California and is currently living in Arizona. He graduated as the valedictorian from Lynwood High School in 1983. He attended UCLA for undergraduate school and obtained a bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering. He interned at Hughes Aircraft in El Segundo, California. He also interned at Rockwell International in their Space Shuttle Main Engines program. He then decided to pursue a law career in Phoenix, Arizona. He graduated cum laude from the Arizona State University Sandra Day O’Connor School of Law with various other awards. For over twenty years, he has practiced insurance coverage and employment law. He was a former partner at the boutique law firm of Kunz, Plitt, Hyland and Demlong. He still currently practices law with the national law firm Resnick and Louis, P.C. He has published various legal treatises and law review articles. Since 2003, He has been an author/co-editor of Couch on Insurance, which is a multi-volume treatise on insurance law published by Thompson Reuters. He has been a speaker/presenter at various employment law and insurance law conferences throughout the country. He currently resides in Gilbert, Arizona in a mixed suburb/rural area. He enjoys reading literary works, attending Broadway plays, traveling internationally (including his native Puerto Rico), and attending museums. He also enjoys swimming during the hot Arizona summers and cooking exotic and strange dishes. He began writing and self-publishing in 2011 with a compilation of short stories entitled “The Palace of Winds and Other Short Stories.” Since then, he has published two novellas and another compilation of short stories. He writes literary dramas and romance from a male perspective. His main series the “Chambers Lane” series addresses social/cultural/religious struggles, which are primarily focused on the fictional Mendoza family living in the United States. The first book of the series – “From the Streets of Chambers Lane” was self-published in January 2017. The second book of the series – “When Dreams Abound: A Return to Chambers Lane” – was self-published in February 2017. In January of 2018, he signed with Next Chapter Publishing (formerly Creativia Publishing). They re-released "From the Streets of Chambers Lane” and "When Dreams Abound: A Return to Chambers Lane" and in early 2019 published the third installment of the "Chambers Lane" series entitled "The Prodigal Son From Chambers Lane." Mr. Maldonado published the fourth installment of the series entitled “Butterflies Blue: An Interlude in San Juan, Puerto Rico” which is a romance novel involving tragic life circumstances. In 2020, Mr. Maldonado published the first book in his legal thriller series, Daniel Mendoza Thriller Series, entitled May It Please the Court. In 2021, Mr. Maldonado published the second book of the series, The Fleeing Felon. Next in the thrillers series is the book entitled, The Mendoza Memo which was published in June 2022. It is anticipated that the fourth book in the series entitled, Where Darkness Resides, will be available in 2023. Mr. Maldonado finished writing the fifth book in the series entitled, Island Brothers, which was available in early 2024. In 2024, he wrote Sandstorm Rising which will be the first book in the Pamela Williams Mysteries Series. His novels have ranked #1 in various genres in the US, UK, Canada, and Australia including legal thrillers, private investigatory mysteries, and Hispanic literature. His latest novel, Island Brothers, ranked #19 in bestselling newly released legal thrillers in 2024. Mr. Maldonado is also interested in writing a sci-fi series. His books are available in e-book, paperback, hardcover, and audiobook.
