All'alba del 13 ottobre 2023, a una settimana dall'attacco di Hamas in Israele e dall'inizio della guerra all'interno della Striscia di Gaza, il giornalista palestinese Sami al-Ajrami chiude a doppia mandata la porta di casa sua, nel campo profughi di Jabalia, dov'è nato e ha sempre vissuto, per sfollare con la famiglia a sud, secondo le indicazioni dell'esercito israeliano. Come già altri profughi palestinesi prima di lui, alle sue spalle lascia un'intera vita.
