Story
Responding to an urgent plea from a troubled family friend, the Earl of Wrexford journeys to Oxford only to find the reclusive university librarian has been murdered and a rare manuscript has gone missing. The only clue is that someone overheard an argument in which Wrexford's name was mentioned. At the same time, Charlotte—working under her pen name, A. J. Quill—must determine whether a laboratory fire was arson and if it's connected to the race between competing consortiums to build a new type of ship.

I love this series however, the narration is terrible. It is an insult to women the voice the narrator uses to represent the woman in the book. I quit listening to this and will get it In paper back. I will never get any of the books this person narrates.

Story
It was a glittering event full of A-listers, hosted by Eliza Lane and Brant Fitzhugh, a celebrity couple who’d conquered both Hollywood and Broadway. And now Eve Dallas has made her entrance—but not as a guest. After raising a toast, Fitzhugh fell to the floor and died, with physical symptoms pointing to cyanide, and the police have crashed the party. From all accounts, he wasn’t the kind of star who made enemies. Everyone loved him—even his ex-wife. And since the champagne cocktail that killed him was originally intended for Eliza, it’s possible she was the real target.

This was a great book. J.D. has not lost her touch. Was very intriguing and make you keep wondering who did it.

Story
Best-selling author Tasha Alexander crafts compelling works that are equally celebrated for their intricate plotting and historical authenticity. A Crimson Warning features beloved character Lady Emily Hargreaves, who can usually be found waltzing or reading from the Aeneid when not fighting for women’s suffrage. Lady Emily’s enjoyment of the season, however, comes to an abrupt end when the red paint being splashed on doorsteps heralds ill - even deadly - tidings.

This narrator is new to the series, she sounds so stuffy and prim also she sounds older than what lady Emily would be it’s sad because I won’t listen to any more of the books with this lady doing the narration.

London, 1888. As colorful and unfettered as the butterflies she collects, Victorian adventuress Veronica Speedwell can't resist the allure of an exotic mystery - particularly one involving her enigmatic colleague, Stoker. His former expedition partner has vanished from an archaeological dig with a priceless diadem unearthed from the newly discovered tomb of an Egyptian princess. This disappearance is just the latest in a string of unfortunate events that have plagued the controversial expedition, and rumors abound that the curse of the vengeful princess has been unleashed as the shadowy figure of Anubis himself stalks the streets of London.

Found this series by accident and what a great find. I just loved the main characters, the twists and that it keeps moving. Listened to them all, hope there is another one on its way.
