Best-selling author Tasha Alexander crafts compelling works that are equally celebrated for their intricate plotting and historical authenticity. A Crimson Warning features beloved character Lady Emily Hargreaves, who can usually be found waltzing or reading from the Aeneid when not fighting for women’s suffrage. Lady Emily’s enjoyment of the season, however, comes to an abrupt end when the red paint being splashed on doorsteps heralds ill - even deadly - tidings.

I really enjoyed this one and the great mystery that kept me guessing!

With historical tidbits always included, it makes the story so interesting!

Great!

I've read all the other books in this series and was glad to finally see this one and the next one on Audible. The main characters are intelligent and the mysteries are well thought out. The heroine works smartly within the restrictions of the society of her times.

Historical mystery series

- Excellent narrator
- Well developed characters
- Great depiction of the period
- Captivating story

This is number 6 in the Lady Emily series and, unfortunately, the only one currently available from audible. More Tasha Alexander please!!!

The perfect historical mystery

An intricate mystery with colorful characters in Victorian England. It’s like a puzzle with lots of pieces. Very interesting.

Political intrigue, red paint and corruption

I love this story and most of the Lady Emily Mysteries but the narrator, Bianca Amato, I didn't care for. Her version of Emly sounded too old, and I couldn't tell the differences among the characters..... Colin sounded old and condescending, and Cecil had no French accent... It's too bad the most of the series are done by Bianca Amato, they should have stayed with Justine Eyre. I don't think I will enjoy the books as much.

Love the story but the narrator

I really enjoyed the first three books in the series because I loved the characters. But the narration in this book isn't nearly as good and thus the characters are not nearly as engaging and likable. If this narrator had done the first couple books, I'm not sure would have continued with the series. I am very disappointed to see that this same narrator does the rest of the books in the series.
Otherwise, the story was good. (Although I think I would have loved it with one of the earlier narrators!)

Narrator isn't nearly as good!

I don’t typically enjoy mysteries, but I love the narration of Bianca Amato. She could recite the alphabet and I’d wish for more letters after Z. It is she who kept my attention long enough to appreciate the authors talent. I plan to listen to more of her work. Well done ladies!

Very Entertaining!

The actress is capable and plays the parts well. But she is terribly miscast. Her voice is simply sounds much older than the Emily. This is main issue with this series. The narrators are either perfect for the role, poor actresses or miscast. It is distracting. And in this book it is hard to get into the book. I just don't know when the main character is speaking. The actress sounds like Emily's mother or other older characters.

Again a different narrator

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Unfortunately, the heroine didn't ring true is so many ways. I had read one other Tasha Alexander book and was not impressed, but decided to give this a try. Much as I wanted to like it, I kept being jolted by unbelievable turns. It just doesn't ring at all true for the time period.

Really wanted to like this, but was disappointed
