I’ve been listening to Beverly Jenkins books for a while and this is by far my favorite. The romance and the twists and turns ket me at the edge of my seat. I completely fell in love with all the characters. A beautifully written story.

I loved all the characters. Such a great book. The narration was okay but it just wasn’t smooth. The narrator took breaks in between sentences which just threw me off and pulled me out of the story at some points.

Story
Sonya Pope is pragmatic and has no time for setbacks, so when she arrives at her elopement to find her fiancé wants to break up, she uses the flight home to reprioritize. But when a woman on the plane has a medical emergency, she jumps to action. Unfortunately, so does the cocky, almost-paramedic two rows back. Ben "Trav" Travis totally got to that patient first, but the cranky nurse with the pretty brown eyes made a big show of taking charge. Sure, he might be one rotation away from actually being certified, but he has real-life experience. The kind he wouldn't wish on anyone.

Nothing
Reviewed: 11-08-24
I really love Evelyn Sola and enjoy the books she puts out, however, I really dislike this book. Half way through and it’s all about sex and sexual attraction with the main characters. There’s no depth to the story and honestly no story line at all. The whole story is Max basically commanding Summer to his office for, you guessed it, sex. Max just does too much tbh. And I don’t feel any chemistry between the characters either. They never had conversations or interactions that would have readers swooning for them, it’s all just touching and sex. No build up, no real connection, nothing. It’s different from her other books where each character has depth and there’s conflict and a story line, this is a very big miss for me. I came with high hopes and left with nothing. Again, I would 100% recommend her other books just not this one. If this was the first book of hers I listened to, I wouldn’t be the fan I am today. DNF.

I loved loved loved the book. It takes time for me to get into a book and often DNF after 2-3 chapters but this book had me in a chokehold. It was anticipated and it definitely reached my expectations. Verity and the Dr. were flawed lovable characters and so cute together. Well written, well paced and a generally enjoyable listen.

For months I stood by, an understudy waiting in the wings, preparing for my time to shine. I never imagined he would watch in the audience that night. Canon Holt. Famous film director. Fascinating. Talented. Fine. Before I could catch my breath, everything changed. I went from backstage Broadway to centerstage Hollywood. From being unknown to my name, Neevah Saint, on everyone’s lips. Canon casts me in a star-studded Harlem Renaissance biopic, catapulting me into another stratosphere. But stars shine brightest in the dead of night.

Serious question. How can anyone give this less than 5 stars? This book was amazing, best I’ve read in a while. The characters were flawed but you just loved them. Trisha was quirky and so relatable, I absolutely loved her. DJ had a tough exterior but was an absolute teddy bear inside. They balance each other out and the chemistry between them, even when they hated each other was evident. Their growth throughout the book was so nice to see. The slow burn of the novel was exactly what I like in books.

Way better than the first.

I love this book way better than the first, twisted love. I related to the characters more and I loved them both. Whereas in twisted love, I loved Ava but didn’t like Alex. Rhys was much more realistic and had depth. I felt for him and his story so when he won Bridgette at the end I shed a little (a lot of) tear. I just connected with him so much. Bridget too was a force. She was so strong but still really sweet. I just love their connection so much, it was much more realistic. Can’t wait for twisted Hate! Thank you for a great book, Ana!
