Story
A young man lives among the trees of a primeval forest, raised by a wizened old sage and friend to the faeries and spirits of his home. He bears only half a name—Lien, an ancient word meaning "blade" or "edge"—and no knowledge of his heritage. As he grows, so too does his need for independence and answers. Thus, he begins his adventure, seeking a shattered sword and the truth behind the mysterious mark on his right hand.

Andrew Rowe is probably one of my favorite authors, and this book is my new favorite of his. The narration by Nick is again top notch. This book really rewards readers who pay attention to the small detail. If you haven't read a book by Andrew Rowe I'd say this is a solid jumping on point.

Story
On a little-known planet, Archmage Varic Vallenar casts a grand spell to empower himself with the magical abilities of his alternate selves. The ritual works too well, granting Varic not only the magic but also the memories from six lives. Including their gruesome deaths. Now, Varic has power greater than any wizard in galactic history, but he knows that won’t be enough. The enemies he faced in those alternate lives were apocalyptic in scale. Terrors of technology and magic. Nothing that he, or anyone, can defeat.

Story
Relos Var's final plans to enslave the universe are on the cusp of fruition. He believes there's only one being in existence that might be able to stop him: the demon Xaltorath. As these two masterminds circle each other, neither is paying attention to the third player on the board, Kihrin. Unfortunately, keeping himself classified in the "pawn" category means Kihrin must pretend to be everything the prophecies threatened he'd become: the destroyer of all, the sun eater, a mindless, remorseless plague upon the land.

Working as a quality-assurance grunt in the gaming industry sounds like fun, right? You get to play the coolest new games before anyone else. And all you have to do is to find, reproduce, and report bugs before the last pixel is locked in and the games are launched to an eager public. Sure, there’s the unpaid overtime, the office politics, and the ever-present threat of layoffs. But you get to game!

Story
At some point, every one of us embarks on a journey to find love. We meet people, date, get into and out of relationships, all with the hope of finding someone with whom we share a deep connection. This seems standard now, but it’s wildly different from what people did even just decades ago. Single people today have more romantic options than at any point in human history. With technology, our abilities to connect with and sort through these options are staggering. So why are so many people frustrated?

Story
Worn out after decades of packing steel and raising hell, Viv, the orc barbarian, cashes out of the warrior’s life with one final score. A forgotten legend, a fabled artifact, and an unreasonable amount of hope lead her to the streets of Thune, where she plans to open the first coffee shop the city has ever seen. However, her dreams of a fresh start filling mugs instead of swinging swords are hardly a sure bet. Old frenemies and Thune’s shady underbelly may just upset her plans. To finally build something that will last, Viv will need some new partners, and a different kind of resolve.

Story
The manhunt has officially begun. Now the target of a game-wide Holy War, Ned is forced to flee the Onyx Sands. The odds are stacked against him; Tyrann has tens of thousands of followers, a religion that’s spreading like wildfire, and a powerful god that will be stepping into the world of EBO in a matter of days. Meanwhile, Ned’s allies are a squirrel-exploding bard, a repurposed home security system who takes her instructions far too literally, and a wildly unreliable talking axe named Frank. But even as the inevitable conflict draws closer, change is coming to EBO.

Another knock out proformance from Travis.
Shadeslinger was probably the best debut novel I've ever expirence and one of the best example of litrpg I've read and Black Sand Baron is a near perfect follow up to it. Hilarious and surprisingly heart warming at times, with some heart pounding action. I can't wait to get my hands on the next book.

overall a great book, and an excellent series. problem the best executed love triangle I've ever heard of.
but beyond that its not often a book looks you in the eye and succinctly breaks you down and put you back together. I needed to hear Lady D'Talus's monolog. I have openly wept for characters in books before, but this is the first time a book has made me cry for myself. Jenn Lyons has be solidly set as one of my favorite authors now even if the rest of the series weren't excellent. This will likely be my favorite book of all time. I eagerly await the finale.

a fine book ruined for me when I should love it
Reviewed: 08-26-21
I already read this book and I can tell you that if you've already made it this far into the series your going to love it. And the new narrator while clearly incredibly skilled and doing great work just can't bridge the gap of uncanny cause by the narrator switch. I respect Neil if I had heard him read another book first I probably would have loved his performance, and he clearly put a lot of work into trying to replicate the voices the original narrator gave the characters, but it just wasn't enough to make up for the change.
