Story
Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

Well written. The author created a great world interesting characters but way too much of it is the main character dwelling on her crush and details about their interaction. Not sure I can finish it.

Fascinating story
Reviewed: 12-19-24
Fascinating story of a forgotten genius. Like his peer Tesla. The man behind the most important engine in history is barely known. Those who profited from it are household names like Cummins, Benz, and Daimler these are the names that we think of when we think of diesel power. Like Tesla the good of humanity was his goal and the greed of the titans of industry of the early 20th century directly influenced his disappearance and lack of historical credit to his achievements. Well narrated by the great scott brick

Story
Here is the novel that will be forever considered a triumph of the imagination. Set on the desert planet Arrakis, Dune is the story of the boy Paul Atreides, who would become the mysterious man known as Maud'dib. He would avenge the traitorous plot against his noble family and would bring to fruition humankind's most ancient and unattainable dream.

Tired of bad sound effects
Reviewed: 03-12-24
The main narrator was fantastic. Actually most of the cast was A list narrators so better than audibles trend of movie celebrity cast. But audiobooks are different than radio plays and audible has a habit of combining the 2 with horrible results. The cheesy sound effects and the fact that each narrator is recording on their own ruins the story even with some of my favorite narrators reading. Amazon owned audible continues to disappoint. Truly sad I have been an audible member since day one and I truly miss the pre Amazon simple app and just high quality single person narration. And Amazon removes books. So the version of Dune I purchased long ago is gone. What’s the point of buying audiobooks and having a large library of titles disappear arbitrarily without notice.

I love this story interesting premise , good characters classic Ringo snark. But…… fake swear words is distracting and frustrating. If you don’t want to use swears fine but inventing your own curse words and over using them ruins the story. his cowriter is not talented. The second book is definitely not as well written as the first and the grapping fake swears. Also the narrator needs to learn technical and military terms for a story like this. Will continue the series because it’s included but truly frustrating that a great series is ruined by a cowriter

This collection was truly fun. The Cobbler story was spectacular. Also had to laugh at the cross over story to my industry (film production) I can confirm that ghouls or other supernatural creatures could exist without notice amongst the weird collection of humans that is the film industry.

First apologies to skippy, joe, RC bray, and Craig Alanson. I love you guys which is why I am totally frustrated that audible did this goofy “star studded” drama bs. RC bray is one of the great narrators 7 books into a series and then this happened stupid. Also Kate mulgrew is a horrible narrator not the first book she butchered at least old nagatha will return. So please please please audible let brilliant narrators narrate and give yup on the famous actors bs.

It is actually written by ray porter it’s called Mr church’s day off. Very short perfect glimpse into a brief episode of downtime for the enigmatic mr church.

Story
On January 28, 1742, a ramshackle vessel of patched-together wood and cloth washed up on the coast of Brazil. Inside were thirty emaciated men, barely alive, and they had an extraordinary tale to tell. They were survivors of His Majesty’s Ship the Wager, a British vessel that had left England in 1740 on a secret mission during an imperial war with Spain. While the Wager had been chasing a Spanish treasure-filled galleon known as “the prize of all the oceans,” it had wrecked on a desolate island off the coast of Patagonia.

Should be entitled a sea adventure for young adult. The narrator should stick to children’s book. The story is a disjointed collection of first hand accounts written be someone with no understanding of sea faring. Please if you are a fan of Patrick O’Brien and the other greats mention in the description of this book don’t waste your time. If wish this interesting story had been written Nathaniel philbrick or the like.

Most of the jack jr series is the adventures and misadventures of jack jr. This book is different. It starts like the other jack jr books but turns into a great book in a more classic Tom Clancy style. The full cast has major rolls and the story explores pertinent and possible world conflicts. The reckless behavior from Chinese fighter pilots against US surveillance planes featured in this book is also in the news this week. Probably my favorite jack jr book
