This is a basic zombie series with a supernatural twist. I read the four book collection and it started off pretty good. While the story and characters were fine, the main character spends an increasing amount of time making jokes about, or referring to, poop, his penis, his erection, masturbation, and also refers to the women of the group as a team vagina. By book 4, it all becomes a bit much and I couldn’t help but think the main character is mirroring the author’s inner dialogue. Without the devolution of the story until it sounded like author was a 14 year old boy trying to impress his friends, I would have rated it higher.

I liked the way espionage was combined with a budding romance. It is truly a unique story. Looking forward to reading more from this author.

I wasn’t sure this book could be as good as Small Town Girl, the first book I read by the author. But this book exceeded my expectations in all aspects. A lovely read.

Great twist at the end. I usually enjoy KL Slater’s books, but this was one of the best.

I just can’t give this book a good review. The first book I ever read of yours was The Paid Companion….AND I LOVED IT. Perhaps it was an unfortunate order for me to read your books, but so far there are too many repeating themes. A fiancé, running away with her lover, a fake engagement, scientists working in laboratories to create a secret weapon. I had to stop reading it early on. I think this copycat should be pulled from the shelves. Of course, I understand that later on it could be quite different. But the early similarities were just too much to take.

A wonderful combination of murder mystery and romance. It is not a typical love story. I really enjoyed this book.

The story is memorable and wonderfully written and the narration is perfect, especially Xe Sands part. Kristan Higgins is my new favorite author. This is the eighth consecutive book written by her that I have read. Just be sure to keep a box of tissues on hand for this one. It is an extremely sad but beautiful story.
