Story
The number one New York Times best-selling story about American Olympic triumph in Nazi Germany, the inspiration for the PBS documentary The Boys of '36, broadcast to coincide with the 2016 Summer Olympics and the 80th anniversary of the boys' gold medal race. Out of the depths of the Depression comes an irresistible story about beating the odds and finding hope in the most desperate of times - the improbable, intimate account of how nine working-class boys from the American West showed the world at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin what true grit really meant.

One of the best books I've ever heard or read. The narration was superb, aside from mispronouncing almost every Washington place name. 😂

Story
Eighteen-year-old Charlee Parker met the love of her life in a parking lot-a leggy brunette with a valedictorian medal hanging from her rear-view mirror and an attitude as biting as a Boston winter. Alexandra Woodson was guarded, a 19-year-old orphan set on a bright future in hospitality administration. She never imagined an art student with a penchant for cheesy pick-up lines and stealing parking spaces would crack her rigid exterior and claim her heart. For four years, theirs was an enviable love - evergreen and growing. Unbreakable... until it broke.

Abby Craden is amazing as always. Her first words were like a warm blanket wrapping around me after not hearing one of her performances in several months. The story was nice but disjointed because of the random time jumps without warning. I don't know if the printed book had visual clues, but the audio left me wondering when the flashback sta

confusing story with terrible narrator
Reviewed: 01-15-24
I'm not sure if it was the machine like narration or if the story was jumbled but had trouble following the plot and had to back up a lot to figure out what just happened. The character voices were ok, but in between the narration sounded like Alexa was reading the book. Be ready for a LOT of guilt and self loathing repeated in the same way over and over.

Replace the spaceships with transit routes and this story could have been about several teenage gangs fighting over a few blocks of abandoned buildings in a run down city. Every encounter devolved into petulant whining until someone finally did what they should have done at the beginning, kill a bunch of people before running away.
I admit I bought this book because the description started with "Lesbian gunslinger fights spies in space! " in bold type, but the thoroughly unlikable MC could have been any gender and orientation without changing the story.

Story
The isolated, sleepy little village of Timber Falls—built on the bend of a swift mountain river—swells during the summer months as tourists flock to town to run the river, lured there by the Class IV and Class V rapids. A gruesome murder of a college student—a river rat—brings the FBI to town. Lynn Carter, a disgraced LAPD detective, was offered an out—a position on a team of unorthodox FBI agents. When her commander sent her to Timber Falls—a town by only the stretch of the imagination—she had no idea she would find her peace there. No idea she might find love.

Story
One sunny Spring morning, EJ's simple life is turned upside down when the town's master gardener unceremoniously hands her a stack of handwritten letters that have all been addressed to a nonexistent person at the garden. This simple act sets in motion a chain of events that will lead EJ on a life-altering quest to uncover the identity of the mysterious letter writer―and into a surprising head-on confrontation with the harsh realities of the racial injustice that is as deeply rooted in the life of her community as the ancient herbs cultivated in the Moravian garden.

I can't wait for their next collaboration. I think I'll finally listen to "The Price of Salt" which has been waiting in my library for more than a year.

So what if everyone says she’s too picky and she’s never had a real relationship? When a chance meeting with Brooke Donnelly leaves Jana literally and figuratively off-balance, it doesn’t take long for her initial annoyance to turn into the first sparks of friendship.
