Publisher's summary

When your parents name you and your three siblings after flowers, the world is stacked against you. At least, that’s how Aster Lavender feels.

The youngest daughter, Aster always keeps her head down and lets her siblings stand in the spotlight. She sells her gourmet doughnuts from Hole in One, the small drive-through stand in sleepy Homer’s Bluff, Kansas, and daydreams about seeing the big beautiful world. Love is never going to happen, especially when the only other lesbians in town are already married to each other.

Beautiful Brynn Garrett arrives to fill in for Homer Bluff’s only veterinarian, and suddenly every pet in town is sick. Brynn’s older, smarter, and way out of Aster’s league. Plus, she’s only in town temporarily and definitely running from something. Aster didn’t plan for a connection so strong it knocks the wind right out of her, but Brynn makes her feel like anything but a wallflower.

It had it all.

l love Lula Larkin and her narration.

The story made me laugh, cheer and cry. I like that it was divided into parts to help with the timeline.

Eh, good enough but....

I did like this book, but lately it seems all her books are so similar, none really stand out on their own. I recently read "How Sweet It Is" & "Strawberry Summer" & this one was right along the same lines. Very predictable.

Couldn't understand Brinn

The story moved well until Boston, then it made no sense to me. It was like fighting quicksand for 5 years then suddenly being teleported to Shangra La.

Lula Larkin was awesome as always.

What a journey…

First, I just want to say that Lula Larkin was perfect for this book. She did such a wonderful job with all the elements. I always knew which character was in play, and she nailed the emotion.
Melissa Brayden is one of my favorite authors. Sometimes I feel like I’m watching a movie.
I fell in love with Part 1. Everything about it. I became frustrated in parts 2 & 3, which I’m sure was the intention. I rallied in part 4.
I really appreciate the animals and how they develop into beings and become actual characters. MB is great at that.
I was starting to feel like the book was getting too long, but then it moved on and in the end I loved it!

A real rollercoaster ride

It took a while to get truly interesting but wow! when it did.
Brynn was certainly flawed and at times didn't treat Aster as well as she could. But that's life! Lots of people are exactly this way.
I was so happy for them, then had my heart torn out only to be happy again.
A book definitely worth the time and a great reward for sticking with it.

Very warm and heartfelt.

I enjoyed the audiobook very much and the story was truly honest. I loved that it was not overly romanticized. It did get frustrating at times to because it felt like the characters were never gonna figure out their love but that is just how it works sometimes.

Relaxing like Lavender

Melissa Brayden is back to original stories. The best book since the Savvy series in my opinion and Lula Larkin is a delicious discovery, love her voice and narration. She makes a huge difference in this story. Can't wait for what this due will come up with next.

A wild romance ride

One I didn’t always enjoy. Of course it got there in the end which made the twists and turns seem a little less bumpy in retrospect. The author takes us on a wild ride full of disappointment, despair and eventually happiness. A good book if you’re prepared for a roller coaster romance.

Love those Small Town Stories!

Kudos to both the author for an awesome story and the narrator for faithfully delivering that awesome story, awesomely! Just be prepared to have your love meter filled, then smashed, wrung out, filled again, run over by a tractor, and left for dead, before you finally get your HEA. ❤️
