Story
Peri Logan’s first client is dead, but not in a morbid way. When her great-grandmother passes, her estate bequeathed Peri a piece of jewelry, a stack of cash, and a note that simply reads “find her”. As a newly licensed private investigator, Peri travels to Italy to find the mysterious woman whose photo was perfectly preserved in the heart-shaped locket. What she doesn’t expect is to be given the runaround from a beautiful stranger who offers to help and does anything but.

Opposites attract. I'd like to think that if Peri was not secretive with her "mission" that Camilla would not have led her around in a circle, but at the same time not everyone is out to hurt you. But it worked out for the better. The truth revealed was when the story became enjoyable for me. I loved the parallels between Hilde and Isabelle's great granddaughter. It's sad that they could not be together, but I had hope they'd be together in their next life. Which ironically came in the form of their descendants.
Their love is what we all aspire to have! Kris Bryant is an amazing author. She's able to capture all the emotional spectrum in one novel! We can hope to have the love like their's one day ♥️ 💕

...day by day, chocolate by chocolate...
Reviewed: 04-01-21
Imagine seeing an attractive woman you like once a week, Thursday (favourite day too 😜✌), for several minutes never gathering up the courage to speak to her? Oh wait, I have.
Their first encounter was not as expected. Nico using her position in the company to get closer to Sophia whilst learning the proper technique of a chocolatier. I don't care what anyone says that is dedication. Nico also helps promote Sophia’s business to friends and family. How can she possibly feel as joke or experiment? What would be the hypothesis? “If I help her get more clients she'll date me? “ No, for that to be a reasonable option Nico would have to brag that she is soliciting business. And she is much too cool and a genuine person to do that.
Sophia's feelings are understandable and validated but to me Nico was saying and doing everything she could, with the exception of a lie by omission. At the same time upon getting to know Sophia it should have been a bit more obvious to Nico that Sophia is the complete opposite of her former lovers; she purchased her own home and vehicle and came up with an additional concept to save her business.
With so much going on in the world and the struggle to find the correct partner, why split up over something that would have been revealed? Because the information did not come from the person you are dating? Yeah, I can understand that. Seeing how it’s quite embarrassing at the moment, but at the same time, she would not felt that mad or upset if she did not actually love her. Communication and compromise is everything in a relationship. With Sophia and Nico they both needed each other, and were able to pick up the pieces and mend the scars on each heart from previous relationships.
“Only love, life, and laughter from here on out. “
P.S. excuse me, Ms. Bryant, I think one more sensory novel is needed, or in my case, requested. There isn't one for sight.

Take a leap of faith... give love a chance
Reviewed: 03-10-21
Yes, take a leap of faith, Jill. My heart goes out to her having to suffer from a chronic autoimmune disease at young age. Also, the attraction between her and Crash is so intense that I literally wanted to scream “why won't you take a chance?!”
Although, I have notice that is a recurrent theme in Jae's novels. Her characters always seem to run away from love instead of embracing it outright. I’m not saying I do not sympathise with them, nor am I perturbed by the realisation, but at the same time it's like what are you afraid of? Love is not always easy to find. Sometimes you just have to take chance.
Despite Jill’s illness she’s so afraid of her condition and becoming a burden that she is ignoring the fact that there's someone whom is eager to have relationship with her! To make it one step easier, Crash joined support group for caregivers of Jill’s disease. Praise God that she had the courage to do that and still want to stay around.
Whilst Jill is concerned of her future here’s Crash constantly essentially saying “do not let this disease scare you away from how I feel about you, I'm not going anywhere despite your MS”. Jill is so distressed over her possible debilitating future she's missing out on someone whom brings joy to her life; someone who understands her, empathise, sees the woman past the disease. Leaving it as only a physical relationship was not enough. Sometimes fear is a good thing, it means that you have something worth losing.

Lowe Carter and Faith Williams could not be more different. Lowe comes from money, very old money. Faith scrapes by, living paycheck to paycheck, sending what little she has left to her mother and little sister. Lowe is just starting her obligatory two-week visit with her parents when she collides, literally and figuratively, with the beautiful Faith. What better way to spend two weeks of hell than in the company of a hot, sexy woman? The only problem is that employees like Faith are forbidden to fraternize with residents and their guests.

Can you find love on a cruise ship? Yes, they can
Reviewed: 02-06-21
I'll admit this novel intrigued my interest based on the title alone. As I read, it was different than I expected, a good different. Through the author's words, I was able to capture and understand both subjects point-of-view. Lowe's need to establish her independence despite her family's status and wealth, as well as Faith's love of her family and send any money she could to her mother back home.
Upon their first encounter, it appeared at love, or rather lust at first sight. At Lowe's insistence to separate herself from her family, manners included she takes it upon herself to apologise for her family's rude behaviour. I admired Lowe's determination to separate herself from her relatives. Although she has a trust fund, that remains untouched, she took the initiative to start her own business and it is quite successful. It is quite understandable Faith's reluctance to pursue anything with Lowe Carter, abiding by the ship's rules. But love knows no rules; the heart wants what the heart wants. I was more than happy when Faith gave into her emotions. Despite the fear of losing her job; you can always find different employment but love rarely comes around.
The ending of the novel was both hopeful and saddening. I wanted more of their relationship, but I suppose where it ended was enough. The reader can then determine how their relationship will progress... I'm rooting for Lowe and Faith's relationship! In my head, they can find a common medium... able to find a place to settle down and start a family. They start with at least a dog. I cannot help but revel at the fact that they found each other on a large cruise ship despite the many factors against them. It further proves that love can conquer anything...

Pop star Leontyne Blake might sing about love, but she stopped believing in it a long time ago. What women want is her image, not the real her. When her father has a stroke, she flees the spotlight and returns to her tiny Missouri hometown. In her childhood home, she meets small-town nurse Holly Drummond, who isn't impressed by Leo's fame at all. That isn't the only thing that makes Holly different from other women. She's also asexual. For her, dating is a minefield of expectations that she has decided to avoid.

Unexpected...Enjoyable...Astounding

3.75 stars, I love a Jae novel. I read the sequel, 'Not the Marrying Kind' first and loved it. I wanted to read this one as well. It was quite good except for the lesson in sub-genre LGBT labels. Some of these terms I've never heard before..."asexual... queerplatonic... allosexual?" I had quite a headache and it pretty much ruined the novel for me, but I persevered.
The attraction between Leo and Holly was great; the easiness of conversing between them was something to be jealous of. I understood why Holly was hesitant and scared but I wish it did not take death for her to realise it and accept despite the many attempts from Leo. Despite the fact Leo had not spoken with her father in over a decade I was glad she was able to make peace with him. In the end, it worked out well for the two of them. It was a great read, and I recommend it.

Stockbroker Isabelle Rhodes has a lot of money, a lot of trust issues, and a whole lot of reasons to believe her ex-girlfriend was right when she said that Isabelle sucked at relationships. With that accusation stuck in her head, Isabelle throws caution to the wind and dives into her first one-night stand. Checking that off her bucket list should be something to celebrate - except it turns out that the woman she just spent an earth-shattering night with is actually her newly hired company pilot, Audrey Graham. Ms. Never-See-You-Again just turned into Ms. See-You-Constantly.

Having thoroughly enjoyed Noyes' "Ask, Tell" trilogy I had no doubt that this novel would be just as good.
I love that Noyes writes in first person but it's also able to convey the other characters opinions and emotions.
I found it hilarious and ironic that Isabelle's one-night-stand turned out to be her pilot. I love the instant attraction between and ached that Isabelle fought against for as long as she did.
Without trust you have nothing. I was so happy that when she finally started to trust in herself, as a woman, as a boss, and in her relationship; everything turned out for the better. Trust is everything!

Do what feels right...
Reviewed: 12-14-20
As usual I seem to read Jae's novels in the wrong order, but it's not that it matters; each novel is its OWN. That being said, this novel was probably one of the most emotional I have felt... from a Jae novel. I could only sympathise with Ashley Gaines and her struggle as a closeted gay. Living in a small town where everyone talks to each other then to have her friends want to marry each other in said small, conserveted town? I was surprised that Ashley did not have a nervous breakdown from keeping all that emotion bottled up. But I prefer to believe that it fellow business owner, Sasha, that allowed Ashley to stay afloat and come to terms with her sexuality realising it is not the worst thing in the world. I enjoyed their friendship development. Sasha's laid-back, care-free attitude rubbing off on Ashley allowing her to realise that not everyone is homophobic and giving her the courage to come into her own, standing up for herself and beliefs.
Do what feels right and you'll never care for anyone else opinion...

A Perfect Ending
Reviewed: 12-05-20
Upon the first chapter, I was annoyed that Jana was the protagonist. I found her loud, annoying, and very talkative. As I read on, the novel became more interesting and I felt that this would be great on its own not as a finalist in the trilogy. I was wrong.
Noyes did an astounding job. I would have preferred Sabine and Rebecca's wedding as an epilogue in the second novel but it tied in well. I love Sabine and Jana's dynamic, sisters as well as best friends.
I was happy that Jana found her one and the ending was thoughtful, sweet, and heartwarming. A perfect ending.

Captain Sabine Fleischer is a skilled and dedicated US Army surgeon deployed to a combat hospital in Afghanistan. She is also one of the thousands of troops who are forced to serve in silence because of the military's anti-gay policy of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell (DADT)". Usually driven and focused, Sabine finds that battles raging both inside and outside are making it more and more difficult for her to deal with her emotions. Dealing with loss and mortality, lack of privacy, sleep deprivation, loneliness, and the isolation forced on her by Don't Ask, Don't Tell are all taking their toll.

I can only imagine...
Reviewed: 11-18-20
I cannot imagine being a gay woman serving in the military under Don't Ask, Don't Tell dedicated to serving my country but only as long as I do not reveal who I love.
This novel showed up in my recommendations, I was skeptical but glad I picked it up. The author does a great job describing the life as a military surgeon, I was able to sympathize with Sabine.
I hate it the way that her longtime girlfriend ended their relationship however, it did make room for Sabine's superior, Colonel Keane's subtle cues.
I was happy when they got together, albeit forbidden, they both needed one another. But when Keane received the alert that's Sabine any traffic accidents she knew what she had to do. It was totally romantic. Keane was willing to give up her military career to save Sabine's. She cared more for Sabine than improving rank, that's love. A great read ❣
