Story
Blythe Connor is determined that she will be the warm, comforting mother to her new baby Violet that she herself never had. But in the thick of motherhood's exhausting early days, Blythe becomes convinced that something is wrong with her daughter - she doesn't behave like most children do. Or is it all in Blythe's head? Her husband, Fox, says she's imagining things. The more Fox dismisses her fears, the more Blythe begins to question her own sanity, and the more we begin to question what Blythe is telling us about her life as well.

This is a truely upsetting and beautiful novel. This really highlights on so many levels how being failed by the ones we love and love us can mess us up deeply!

With ailing family to support, Evie Sage's employment status isn't just important, it's vital. So when a mishap with Rennedawn's most infamous Villain results in a job offer—naturally, she says yes. No job is perfect, of course, but even less so when you develop a teeny crush on your terrifying, temperamental, and undeniably hot boss. Don't find evil so attractive, Evie. But just when she's getting used to severed heads suspended from the ceiling and the odd squish of an errant eyeball beneath her heel, Evie suspects this dungeon has a huge rat . . . and not just the literal kind.

Story
It is 1940 and William, 12, Edmund, 11, and Anna, nine, aren't terribly upset by the death of the not-so-grandmotherly grandmother who has taken care of them since their parents died. But the children do need a guardian, and in the dark days of World War II London, those are in short supply, especially if they hope to stay together. Could the mass wartime evacuation of children from London to the countryside be the answer?

what a FLOP
Reviewed: 10-27-24
I loved the first book, and was still bery interested in the second book.... the third one however..... unforgiveable... Pip went from protecting the innocent to punishing the guilty.. and that was not a direction I wanted to see her go in. She was irrational and such a know it all because of her 2 successful mysteries solved that she became delulu and now assumes that the cops are all actually just incompitent and she is a genious and smarter than them and they are scum.... which is unfair because in the second book they litturally were just following missing person protocall, they cannot bend the rules for Pip because of who she is... and the Andy Bell murder was reasonable on how they came to the innitial wrong conclusion.. overall she needed to be humbled and because of the third book I see her differently and just could not stomach her anymore.

Story
When seventeen-year-old Bailey starts a new job at a hotel waterpark, she is less than thrilled to see an old acquaintance is one of her coworkers. Bailey met Charlie a year ago on the long flight to Omaha, where she moved after her parents’ divorce. Charlie’s cynicism didn’t mix well with Bailey’s carefully well-behaved temperament, and his endless commentary was the irritating cherry on top of an already emotionally fraught trip. Now, Bailey and Charlie are still polar opposites, but instead of everything about him rubbing Bailey the wrong way, she starts to look forward to hanging out.
