About this listen

“You must be our new neighbors!” Mrs. Lowell gushes and waves across the picket fence. I clutch my daughter’s hand and smile back, but the second Mrs. Lowell sees my husband a strange expression crosses her face. In that moment I make a promise. We finally have a family home. My past is far, far behind us. And I’ll do anything to keep it that way…

I used to clean other people’s houses—now, I can’t believe this home is actually mine. The charming kitchen, the quiet cul-de-sac, the huge yard where my kids can play. My husband and I saved for years to give our children the life they deserve.

Even though I’m wary of our new neighbor Mrs. Lowell, when she invites us over for dinner it’s our chance to make friends. Her maid opens the door wearing a white apron, her hair in a tight bun. I know exactly what it’s like to be in her shoes. But her cold stare gives me chills…

The Lowells’ maid isn’t the only strange thing on our street. I’m sure I see a shadowy figure watching us. My husband leaves the house late at night. And when I meet a woman who lives across the way, her words chill me to the bone: Be careful of your neighbors.

Did I make a terrible mistake moving my family here?

I thought I’d left my darkest secrets behind. But could this quiet suburban street be the most dangerous place of all?

I liked hearing about Millie and Enzo; their two kids. But why does trouble seem to follow them.

The family moves to a new neighborhood and into a house. Millie and Enzo are thrilled; the kids are into it at all.

Then they meet the neighbors. One is an over protective Mom. The other hits on Enzo any chance she gets, even in front of Millie. This distracts Millie to what is actually going on.

I enjoyed the first two. This one was very different though. The first 9 or so hours I was trying to figure out what the point of the story was and where it was going. After that point, I spent the rest of the book trying to figure out why this was even the storyline. It was very anticlimactic, Millie’s voiceover of Enzo was annoying and how much his attractiveness was talked about was cringey. I was very excited for the release and it was a major letdown.

The worst of the series

So I really enjoy The Housemaid series and this was my first time using Audible. Unfortunately the woman voicing Millie sounds too angry when narrating, almost too serious. I think it would have been better with a different voice.

Love this book but…

The author was repetitive with words and it started to feel like filler rather than to progress the story or develop characters. The twists felt forced. Overall a mediocre story.

Repetitive language and little excitement

If you read book one and two, you must read this book absolutely did not disappoint. It’s a bit of a roller coaster ride of emotions. I nearly died on chapter 50. And the ending WOW!!!!!! Loved Loved it!!!!

Amazing!!!!

Not nearly as good as the first two books. For over half the book she whines about her kids & their lack of money. I sure hope the 4th is better she needs to retire the maid.

Disappointed

The storyline is fun but the drowning on of the same context and the dumbing down of Millie has run its course in book 3. I am over this series that is just the same as the two previous.

The Abridged version would be better!

Felt forced and unlike the usual “Freida”. But, like she said in the book, the 3rd is always the worst. Still enjoyed the listen while at the same time I can’t help but feel a little disappointed in the ending.

Reaching..

Starts out slow compared to first two books of series but picks up in later chapters. Then the twist brings it all together! Awesome Read!!

The twist at the end..
