Soon the threats escalate and Pip realizes that someone is following her in real life. When she starts to find connections between her stalker and a local serial killer caught six years ago, she wonders if maybe the wrong man is behind bars.

Police refuse to act, so Pip has only one choice: find the suspect herself—or be the next victim. As the deadly game plays out, Pip discovers that everything in her small town is coming full circle . . .and if she doesn’t find the answers, this time she will be the one who disappears. . .

Ruined a Good thing!

This series has been one of my favorite series so far. The story began in a unique way, and it setup a plot I was looking forward to Pip uncovering. It was going to be epic, but then part 3. No spoilers here, but the character arch taken almost ruins the series. I think I waited fifteen chapters hoping it was a dream that the character would wake up from. Unfortunately, that never happened.

That escalated quickly

That escalated quickly and was filled with turmoil and angst. A smart and twisty end to the series.

Disappointed

I was excited when I begin this because of how much I enjoyed the previous 2. I have to say that the drama that was sought after and craved made for a less believable and far more annoying story line. I considered stopping more than once but I wanted to believe there was something to help recover from my disappointment. The natural flow from the first two books was sorely lacking in this in my opinion.

A mixed bag

I really enjoyed the first two books, and when starting this one appreciated Pip's mental state hadn't just miraculously rebounded after the end of the second one. Bailey Carr does a great job narrating these, for sure, and for the first half of this one I was pretty into it, though irritated at Pip because the answer to the case was VERY obvious but she was wrong af until she found out. Then the second half of the book... I like that it went a different direction, but it all seemed just so unnecessary. It also felt somewhat out of character, even if the book explains why her reaction was the way it was. I don't know, the back half of this one didn't work for me, plot-wise. BUT the writing itself in that back half was excellent. I felt incredibly tense the whole time while listening.

Great ending to a great trilogy

Not really a spoiler but also don’t read if you want to go into the book completely unaware:

This author is SO GOOD at setting up the problem, making you think something is going to happen, only to have our brave narrator come up with something way better. You’d think by book 3 I’d learn to not underestimate Pip. :)

Crazy ending, dragged on though

Completely different than the other two books. Very very long. Good to keep reading tho. Finish it out. Wish they did more with Ravi and Pip’s ending but they left it to our imagination. That’s okay.

As Good as Dead

I started to loose interest half way through. The main character became too whiny and many of the details/descriptiveness too repetitive. I was invested in the story and had to finish.

Love the figurative language

Read with my daughter and we both enjoyed it. The voice was engaging and the story was surprising.
