Story
Travis Barker's soul-baring memoir chronicles the highlights and lowlights of the renowned drummer's art and his life, including the harrowing plane crash that nearly killed him and his traumatic road to recovery. After breaking out as the acclaimed drummer of the multiplatinum punk band Blink-182, everything changed for Travis Barker. But the dark side of rock stardom took its toll: His marriage, chronicled for an MTV reality show, fell apart. Constant touring concealed a serious drug addiction. A reckoning did not truly come until he was forced to face mortality.

Pretty good book, narration is bad
Reviewed: 09-20-20
If you can get past the narrator, it isn't a bad book. Half the time, you don't know who is supposed to be talking because it is the same narrator the entire time and no distinction. Sorry but if a woman is talking, I don't want to hear a man's voice. It's just weird.
I got the book because it was free. I always appreciated Travis as a musician and he played with some punk bands I like so I listened. If I were a massive Blink fan, maybe I would have been like "THIS WAS AMAZING!!!". I feel like it went a tad long but others probably disagree.
His story was pretty interesting, nonetheless. Especially the plane crash because I didn't realize the severity of his injuries. I knew it was bad but I didn't realize HOW bad.

If you want Farley info...

Get The Chris Farley Show book first and then this one of you're looking for a lot about Chris. There's not much Chris stuff in this book so it kind of complements the info in the other book.
I really like David so it was interesting to hear about his growing up. I think I expected a little more from the book. It's definitely worth getting, don't get me wrong. I liked it, just for side reason I feel like it didn't detail certain events much.

Story
The New York Times best-selling biography of an American comedy legend. After three years of sobriety, Chris Farley's life was at its creative peak until a string of professional disappointments chased him back to drugs and alcohol. He fought hard against them, but it was a fight he would lose in December 1997. Farley's fans immediately drew parallels between his death and that of his idol, John Belushi. Without looking deeper, however, many failed to see that Farley was much more than just another Hollywood drug overdose. In this officially authorized oral history, Farley's friends and family remember his work and life.

A lot I never knew
Reviewed: 09-16-20
I'm a big Chris Farley fan and always have been. I was iffy about getting this book but it was on sale so I got it. (Well worth full price btw!). It's accounts from so many people in his life and you learn so much about why he was the person he turned out to be away from the camera. There's a lot I never knew like he was supposed to be the voice of Shrek!
I was emotional listening to some parts because he really seemed to love everyone and care about them only. I wish there was no need for this book because I wish he were still here. But it was a great book

WONDERFUL and inspiring
Reviewed: 09-03-20
This book is nothing short of inspiring. You would think it to be horribly depressing but Jeannie really makes you realize that this was a gift for her. Sounds crazy right? Not really when you hear why she says this. I have a lot of health issues and Jeannie's will and desire to get better was amazing and I look up to her for this.
I love the Gaffigan family and this was just fantastic. There is a part about her giving birth that had me bawling as I drove down the road. But wow, what an incredible book. If you have any doubts about it, don't. Just buy it!

Story
The first memoir by beloved comedian, actor, and writer Brian Posehn, hilariously detailing what it's like to grow up as and remain a nerd, with a foreword by Patton Oswalt. Brian Posehn is a successful and instantly recognizable comedian, actor, and writer. He also happens to be a giant nerd. That's partly because he's been obsessed with such things as Dungeons and Dragons, comic books, and heavy metal since he was a child; the other part is because he fills out every bit of his six-foot-seven-inch frame.

Brian's life was not at all as expected. What he went through really made him who he is today. I love that he is a open book about his childhood because I was so able to relate, especially as a massive Rush and metal fan. He adores his wife and son and I love hearing him talk about them. It was all around a great book and entertaining.
