Very thought provoking, I thoroughly enjoyed this one. I may be a bit biased as Ms Moriarty is in my top 5 of authors. I have been waiting patiently for this one and it did not disappoint. Keep giving us these great characters and books please!

Story
My darling little boy Albie adores playing at our new neighbours’ house. And after the terrible year we’ve had, I feel so lucky that we can start over in this perfect place, with new friends who treat Albie like the son they never had. He can’t stop talking about the tree house they’re building him, and the cookies they bake together. But as time passes, something starts to feel wrong. Why don’t they ever open the front door more than a crack? They told me they had no children so who does the small pink tricycle I saw in their hall belong to?

This was the most bizarre book I’ve listened to!! I’m surprised I kept listening, probably because I kept thinking Anna was going to wake up from a nightmare. Nope. It was all real….witchcraft and all! If you like far fetched books then you’ll love this one.

I did not like these short stories. Twisted and so bizarre! Maybe I would have liked the 3rd one, but I gave up too early. I’m a huge fan of Slaughter’s books too, just not this one. This one book didn’t ruin it for me though- I’ll keep listening to her books!

So twisted!
Reviewed: 09-24-23
Typical twisted story by Margaret Atwood. Futuristic and waaaaay out there. I don’t think anything will ever come close to Handmaid’s Tale or MaddAddam trilogy. It was fun, and promising, but the end was disappointing for me. The idea of this new society was exciting, and I wish she had explored that side more, instead of twisting into weird sexbot stories and imprinting using brain surgery. Oh well, it was entertaining and that’s why I keep listening!
