I'm a bit confused about how I feel about this book. I didn't like the Hero at all, he was an arse, and never redeemed himself in my eyes, just waited for her to get over everything he'd done and said to her. IMO, there should have been major groveling and there was nothing. I was even crying with her (and the kids) at one point. But that being said, I really loved the heroine and the kids. And I was glad that he wasn't really hung up on the dead wife. The writing was good, as was the audiobook narration. But I still don't know if I liked the book as a whole.

Really liked the story, but there was ZERO Reverse Harem to this book. As a series, I assume it will be slow burn. I'm okay with that, but how things are laid out now, I'm not sure how things will come together to make this a cohesive group. but the audiobook was really well done, with a different narrator for each main character, and I'm willing to keep going in the series to see how things play out. I have only read the Madison Kate series, not Hades, and while you can tell that there is a continued plotline, it's not something that I need to know to enjoy this series.

I'm writing this review after completing the series, and this was my favorite book. I cannot think of any romance trilogy/series where the second book wins that title for me. There was more mystery and more steam compared to the previous book. It was just more engaging.

My first thought was that this book was way too long. There were multiple times that I found myself thinking "omg, they're having sex again" and "wow, we're having another ambush" and by the halfway point, I was getting annoyed by it. The story would have been fine if half of each were removed. But I really enjoyed the found family plot point, and could have done with more scenes with Koen. He was the highlight of the book for me. And Leon was really funny during this one, like I had multiple laugh out loud moments at things he thought or said.

For those that read Tate James books for the RH trope, this was not one. It was MFM, and even though the guys eventually started to tolerate each other by the end of the book and participated in a couple of threesome scenes, it never felt like they were a cohesive group. It very much felt like a Why Choose, and really defines the difference between WC and RH. This was almost MF/MF and it just so happened that the F in both sets was the same woman.

An enjoyable read and listen. There was very little outside drama, just internal demons that needed to be fought. I liked both characters, and their story. I loved what Derek did as his moonlighting gig, and would have loved to have seen more of the sister, she seemed like a good character. I hope that she gets her own book. I'm not sure that the epilogue felt very realistic to me, but I was happy with their ending.

A good read that was a nice addition of the series. Honestly, I wasn't that excited to start this one, but it ended up better than I thought it would be. I liked the characters and their story. There were some really emotional scenes, but overall a cute story.

My review was going to include something about not being sure if I would want to read the next book, but apparently, I already have. I'm not sure why my review of the next book, which is a continuation of this couple, didn't say anything about not understanding their past or feeling like something was missing, but it didn't. As I read it years ago, I have no recollection of anything that happened during that book.

Back to this book...I just didn't like it. Not the story, not the characters, not their [partial] relationship, and definitely not the audiobook. I couldn't tell what the guys accent was supposed to be (started out sounding Russian, then maybe Hispanic? but I never got Italian until it was his grandfather talking) and his female voice isn't great.

I think this book was sweeter than I expected. I liked how into her and supportive of her he was, and how he loved the baby. And while I appreciated why she was the way she was, it was slightly annoying how evasive she was just because of a preconceived idea of him. But it made for a story. the audiobook was well done here as well.

I was REALLY bored throughout this book. I feel like, if I hadn't needed a rockstar book for a sort of challenge I was doing, I most likely would have DNF'd this one.

I don't really have much to say about this one other than I was really bored throughout. This might have even been a 2.5 Star read for me. The blurb made it sound like something that would be right up my alley, but I just wasn't ever drawn in. And the audiobook did nothing to help that.
