Story
Amoral, cunning, ruthless, and instructive, this piercing work distills 3,000 years of the history of power into 48 well-explicated laws. This bold volume outlines the laws of power in their unvarnished essence, synthesizing the philosophies of Machiavelli, Sun Tzu, Carl von Clausewitz, and other infamous strategists. The 48 Laws of Power will fascinate any listener interested in gaining, observing, or defending against ultimate control.

The historical content of the book, Amazing. The narration, even more Amazing!
I don't know where to begin. Greene's ability to intertwine stellar historical examples of each law was masterful. I bought 7 paperback versions of this book to share with friends and family so that they too would better appreciate some historical events. The writing was absolutely superb. And then there was the narration.
The only thing that can make a well written work better, is having that well written work read by a brilliant orator. Holy smokes did Poe knock it out of the park! I could've listened forever to this magnificent narrator read. I felt like a kid again as I listened to the purposeful inflection of Poe's voice as he navigated between characters. I didn't want it to end. He really brought the work alive.
I highly recommend this Amazingly wonderful work!

Story
In The Light Beyond, Dr. Raymond Moody, the world's leading authority in the field of near-death experiences, investigates fascinating new case studies. Common patterns emerge from these reports, such as meeting loved ones in the afterlife, being surrounded by a bright beautiful light, reviewing one's life, and being able to view scenes on earth while outside the body. Moody looks at various aspects of the NDE, including children's reports and those of other researchers in the field. He also examines the positive life-changing effects of NDEs.

Story
In Signposts to God, particle physicist Peter Bussey introduces listeners to the mysteries of modern physics and astronomy. Authored in clear, accessible prose, Bussey provides a primer on topics such as the laws of nature, quantum physics, fine-tuning, and current cosmological models. Bussey argues that, far from ruling out a divine creator, modern physics and astronomy present us with compelling signposts to God. The more we know about the cosmos and our presence in it, the more plausible belief in God becomes.

Eurocentrism 101
Reviewed: 05-23-20
The author's understanding of scientific knowledge and understanding, along with spiritual overstanding, begins and ends from a European standpoint. The author's clear limits of knowledge pertaining to the 7,000 years of Kemetic (Egyptian) contributions, and more appropriately, foundation, to scientific and spiritual understanding cannot be overstated. I'm deeply disappointed with this author's Eurocentric viewpoint. It does anyone, with limited historical knowledge, a disservice. The narrator is absolutely phenomenal! I love all of his work. He is the only reason why I stomached the rest of this wholly dissatisfying work.

Brilliant narrative! Brilliant narrator! Dr. Parti's experience has reinforced my own personal spiritual understanding and journey's desire. The authors couldn't have picked a better narrator in Steve West to punctuate the significant important message expressed within. Dr. Eben Alexander mentioned this book and I am glad that I was able to find it and dive into it. I couldn't turn it off. The story was so compelling and brilliantly developed and produced. Coupled with the elegant reading of West, I imagined that I was having a personally deep and thoughtful discussion with Dr. Parti, not simply listening to his amazing journey from materialist to spiritual guide. I couldn't be happier that I own this very important piece of literature, and mikie importantly, that I was able to hear it in its entirety.
Thank you Rajiv, Paul, and Steve. My life has changed behind this book.

Story
Over the past several years, Jonathan Kozol has visited nearly 60 public schools. Virtually everywhere, he finds that conditions have grown worse for inner-city children in the 15 years since federal courts began dismantling the landmark ruling in Brown v. Board of Education. First, a state of nearly absolute apartheid now prevails in thousands of our schools. The segregation of Black children has reverted to a level that the nation has not seen since 1968.

Tears, tears, and more tears!

I was a student in, an educator of, and the parent of two students that has and will attend, a deeply segregated school in one of the United States most liberal cities-- the New York City public schools system. I was recently told by an admissions aide in a district 11 Family Welcome center, a NYCDOE center that allows parents to register their children to district 8 and 11 schools, that I could not enroll my son, who is a soon-to-be kindergarten student, in a school that was much closer to my home. This school reserved a waitlist that was highly selective to families of whom resided in the private homes of Morris Park, unlike myself who lives in Parkchester. Parkchester children are all dumped in P.S. 106. For me to get my child in PS/MS 498 the principal would have to meet me and sign off on it. But I'm Black, so I am a victim of New York City's apartheid school system!
This book is a sad reminder that NOTHING has changed! In fact, schools are more segregated now then ever before. I recommend this book for everyone. Whether you're an educator, a pastor, a racist, a saint, or a cynic, this book is for you!

Drawing on his own experience of feeling undervalued and invisible in classrooms as a young man of color, and merging his experiences with more than a decade of teaching and researching in urban America, award-winning educator Christopher Emdin offers a new lens on an approach to teaching and learning in urban schools. He begins by taking to task the perception of urban youth of color as unteachable, and he challenges educators to embrace and respect each student's culture.

Story
For many years to come, race will continue to be a source of controversy and conflict in American society. For many of us it will continue to shape where we live, pray, go to school, and socialize. We cannot simply wish away the existence of race or racism, but we can take steps to lessen the ways in which the categories trap and confine us. Educators, who should be committed to helping young people realize their intellectual potential, have a responsibility to help them find ways to expand identities related to race.

This is an amazing Audible book; so much so that I purchased the physical book for reference. All educators and social scientists need a copy of this book in their personal library. This is a necessary book for all those training to be pre-K and K - 12 pedagogues or K - 12 administrators. I am absolutely blown away with the book's fluidity and well conceived theories/ praxis. I cannot stress how elated I am to have found such a well authored book, one in which makes me eager to frame my own educational administrative career on.
