I must say that I enjoyed the book. It was not one of those stories that had drama that went on forever, seemingly for the sake of drama. It was well written and the storyline kept a decent pace throughout.

The story is non-stop intrigue and treachery with a budding romance of enemies that become lovers and back again! The story was impossible to put down and I loved it and have to stop writing now so I can move on to book two!

I loved finally getting to know Mac and Jetta better. I loved how college arcane rallied around the Sutton kids too. It was great having the narration of James Patrick Cronin returned because I just love the unique voices and additional layer he brings to what is already an amazing story. Overall, I highly recommend this series.

J.R. Ward smoothly spins the timeline forward to introduce the children of the black dagger brothers as adults and also reintroduces the dreaded lessors. Nalla, the blooded daughter of Zsadist, has been sheltered her entire life, mostly because Zsadist, her father and a black dagger bad-ass brother, is not a father anyone would want to cross. The story begins when Nalla and Bitty go out to a human club where they run into some of the characters we've met when they were youngs.

Wrath also returns after 33 years that were a blink for him and a long torturous road for his family and the brothers. It was an incredible reunion moment when Fritz first encounters Wrath. That was written well and was touching. Wrath's son, appears to have a budding chemistry with Bitty also, but that, I'm sure will be in a book to come and I can't wait.

Nate and Nalla first meet in this story after Nalla leaves the nightclub she was talked into coming to by Bitty. Nate follows her to keep her "safe" but Nalla, is no shrinking violet. She proves she doesn't need the helping hand. I won't say more as I don't want to spoil the book. I love J.R. Ward's books and the narration by Jim is, as always, an entire layer of extra deliciousness for you to feast on.
I was not thrilled to bring back the Lessoning society, but I'm sure that J.R. Ward will find a fitting end to them once more and
I'm looking forward to the Bitty and L.W. romance too. Great story!

The main mob boss couldn't be less sexy. Knowing he's selling people for profit and being able to leap to a relationship between a terrified woman (victim) is too far for me to ever enjoy any part of this story. I didn't feel he was protective, just sociopathic or possibly psychopathic.
The narrator sounds like he's reading a story about constipation or something equally unappealing. If you read my reviews, you'll know that I usually give 4 to 5 stars on most everything I read, but I hated this book,

I was surprised I couldn't get into the story easily. I was less impressed with this story because the main character was so surly. I couldn't find myself liking him. It was difficult believing someone, anyone, could find him irresistible enough to want to spend eternity with such a curmudgeon. The author is amazing, so I still would recommend any book she writes, but, for me, it wasn't knocked out of the park.

I was awed by this book. The story was perfectly laid out from start to finish. I hope there's more to come. The writing and narration flowed smooth, like a fine wine. I haven't been delightfully surprised by a book since "The Hail Mary Project," This book was an absolute treat.

Despite being able to take a beating, the main character, Madeline, seems like a victim throughout the story. The author wrote that Madeline didn't know if she could ever trust a man, repeating over and over that in multiple ways, I got sick of hearing it. Then, after she's rescued the laird vows to protect her and repeatedly feels he failed.
The laird was such a hot head that he was difficult to like and Madeline was so chronically skidding that I just couldn't like either of them. I rarely don't find a book enjoyable enough to give it a good rating, but I definitely found my limit for repetition in this book.

It was so disappointing to have a beloved series suddenly change narration. I was so upset that the narrator didn't even bother to get the names of the characters correct.
I loved the voices, the tone and the flow that James Patrick Cronin brought, adding another interesting layer to the amazing series that the Demon accords is. Having a new voice after so many books was a huge letdown for me. I am hopeful that there was just a one time conflict and the narrator will be returned to the voice we've come to know. I will not buy another audible book with this narrator. I just was unimpressed with her and though I'll continue reading John Conroe's "Demon Accords", it will be on kindle ebooks. I'm sure that now though, I'll only read it once and be unlikely to pick it up again because it isn't the same for me personally without the narration.
I've listened to each story countless times. I really tried to enjoy the story with this author, but I couldn't feel that connection with the characters as easily. I felt it was a real shame that the narration can detract from the enjoyment so much when you are spoiled by an excellent narrator that has been changed to someone who doesn't do a great job. It had been my favorite series on audible. I'm very disappointed with the audible purchase despite that the story was great.

What an intriguing tale. I can't wait to see how this story proceeds. I admit I loved the comeuppance the others handed to those harming the Meg got. Really an amazing author I somehow accidentally stumbled across, and I'm so glad I did.
